This is an incredible set. These people are geniuses and the set is worth every penny. There are a lot of knock-offs out there, but Kegonis is in a league of its own for such builds. Just amazing.
This set requires considerable patience and perseverance, at least it did for this 84 year old. Patience because there is considerable repetition, which is to be expected when you are building something with 4 identical legs. Perseverance because I too had lots of trouble and frustration with parts dropping off as soon as they were touched. In the end I put those parts to one side until I had secured the bottom 4 legs to the base and it was a firm, rigid, structure. I then fitted those parts, and the arches without any problems. I also had great trouble getting secure, rigid connections to the top of the second set of legs. The bricks on the inside corners of the top plates kept disconnecting. I rebuilt the section three times to ensure everything was correctly fitted and only solved the problem when I fitted four 2x4 plates in place the eight 1x4 plates in the instructions. This made a tremendous difference and secured this section properly. One thing that helped a great deal was that I had made a wooden base on casters to put the tower on, which meant that I could move the whole thing around without touching the tower. It was also disappointing to have multiple parts missing in a set that had cost me over 1,000 NZ dollars. I am unable to complete the tower until parts arrive from Lego. I have been building Lego sets for 50 years, and missing parts are very rare. I can only conclude that the quality control on this set was not up to the usual high standard.
This was by far the most fulfilling LEGO set to build. Out of 10,001 pieces not a single one was missing. The instructions were very clear how to attarch legs and join parts. Absolutely eye catching and a joy to look at. Gave a 1 for play experience because it’s a piece of art. Overall extremely happy to choose this over the TITANIC set because I like the detail it includes.
The products are great, but this will be the last time I buy a large LEGO set from Amazon. The other sets I have purchased have come with packaging around the LEGO set, but Amazon did not, and therefore the box looked very worn when I picked it up. Really bad of Amazon compared to its competitors. Amazon only gets one star.
Bought the Effel tower for myself as it has been on my list to visit one day. Finally got it this year to build it with my son who is also a huge Lego fan and loves building them. Overall due to the size was very repeative which would require patience. The bottom arches was the most challenging in putting together, if it wasn't for my son not sure if it would have been put together as well as it did. Quality time spent in building this with him is priceless and looking forward to other builds!!! Would to to have the original Taj Mahal back on the market.
A masterpiece.
Absolutely love this build, looks fantastic. Couple things I don’t like is the repetitive building, and the structure of it (not structured good). The repetitive building was a lot to take in with constant x2-x4 and going up to x64/x48 of certain things. Other wise it was a good building experience. The other thing that has me confused is how the structure of the build was designed. The cross-membering with the posts are not connected to the other post as well as the arches. It feels like the base could collapse at any moment. The third section of cross-membering is the pieces slide down way too easily. It should’ve had the effect of having two clips on posts like the bottom two sections or the bars should’ve connected on the opposite of the clip. Overall it looks really fantastic and the detail is superb but the repetitiveness and the structural integrity are my two concerns.
My only other build of this size and price was the Titanic a couple years ago. I was excited to build the Eiffel Tower and assumed (for the price and piece count) a similar experience. There were certainly some fun challenges and sections while building but, for the most part, I found the project to be overly repetitive to the point that I was almost annoyed. It also seemed that the piece count for this set was intentionally inflated. There were countless steps that included 50+ (sometimes 100+) tiny pieces, which made me feel as though I overpaid for this set. In hindsight I believe this set should retail somewhere between the $300-$400 range.
Excellent product, great design.
ive never bought a set this big before or for the price, build experience is amazing despite the Challages this set had to put together. it was Enoyable eventho it was Repetitive build in many areas. I would recommend this set altho make sure you have the space to build it and that you know where its going because it's Pretty big Piece, mine is on Display in the Landing and its in line as your going up stairs, price is fair a little high but overall well worth it in the end. Thank You LEGO Creative Team for making an amazing Set i'd look forward to seeing what your next big one would be.
A truly impressive LEGO set.
Beautiful packaging, fast delivery.
The completed set itself is awesome. It is as expected to be repetitious due to its symmetrical build so that it would require some pacing when building it. The arches on the base are the tricky ones as these are indeed flimsy and have to delicately attach to the base. What most turned me off with this set is its packaging. Environment sustainability seems to be non-existent with this set. Each of the 3 boxes inside the main box have so much space if bags have been packed properly. Instead the bags seemed to be just thrown to its numbered box. Also, box 3 still has another white box with some of the bags inside, which is unnecessary waste. Many of the plastic bags' sizes are quite big for the amount of bricks inside. I hope Lego reviews its packaging process if it's really serious on environment sustainability as this set appears to be the contrary.
Wonderful building kit from LEGO! I've been working on this for days. Tip: install lighting after building, then it really comes to life and can even be used as home decor!
This was a wonderful and fun set to put together with my husband. Some of it was a little frustrating at parts but overall we full enjoyed it.
I was very excited when this package arrived. It was a very heavy one and I discovered that there were three boxes inside. There are a lot of pieces in total, but it comes with very good instructions. It brings a wonderful piece that helps you if you make a mistake when putting it together, this is a 10 for LEGO. It will take me a while to finish, but I think it's a lot of fun 😊 The product is recommended! A perfect gift for children but also adults!
After building the space shuttle and Hubble set, which I loved, my non-Lego-building husband surprised me with the idea of giving each other this monster of a set for Christmas. We both loved our visit to Paris years ago, and I knew we would have a place for this piece in our home, so I somewhat reluctantly agreed. I'm happy to report that the "alternate who builds each step" method worked well, greatly reducing the frustration of so much repetition, and despite a few mis-steps, both of us survived with our marriage intact, Fingers crossed that this means more Lego in our future! P.S. -- do yourself a favor and get a light kit for this one.... it makes a huge difference, and makes it the focal point of any space you put it in.
As soon as I saw this on the website I couldn't believe it existed so pre-ordered it straight away. It is a repetitive build and takes some patience but the pay off is incredible -i recommend listening to french accordion music to help you through and make you feel like you're in Paris, it was great! I live in a small house so had to get creative with displaying it. The end result is perfect and a real show stopper in the house. Everyone who has seen it has been in awe! If you can find somewhere for it to go and can get the cash together it's a must buy, epic piece of Lego history/engineering. I also bought a couple of battery operated remote controlled lights to really bring it to life.
