My daughter just turned 10 and she is having a blast with this set!In the box, you get a full-color instruction book, three bags of colored Legos, and the FUSION plate. You will also need to download the free LEGO Fusion app from the App Store.In the app, your child will scan their building facade, built on top of the FUSION plate. They can build up to sixteen bricks high, and no wider than the plate. Once scanned, the building comes to life in the app. The app adds walls, furniture, and can even convert your building into a bakery or a store. The app adds details like furniture, a computer, even food for the bakery. The app includes animal friends, very much like the LEGO Friends animals. There is even a horse that your LEGO friend can ride on! The way that you acquire the different building types is using in-game coins. The coins are scattered in the forest, and you need to walk through the forest to collect them.While scanning the FUSION plate creations can take a minute or two, it captures the building facades pretty closely. There were only minor differences between what my daughter built and what was scanned, and appeared in the app.From box to in-app play was less than 30 minutes. It is intuitive, fun, and creative. I like that it encourages children to visualize between buildings and computer simulations of those buildings. It is an early try at thinking like an architect.
