Great Value, Great Set

This is one of my favorite LEGO sets I can think of! The train took a "stunning" hour and a half to assemble, and I took some time to arrange the tracks...so about two hours to set up. Remember, you need a lot of AAA batteries for this set, so keep this in mind when building it. I'm surprised that I haven't had to refill the batteries yet 🤷‍♀️. The train itself has a pretty sleek and modern design that makes it way cooler than all of the trains I've ever seen in real life. It's more like a high-speed monorail, to be honest. The mini figures included were the only thing I didn't like about it. They were just...average. I don't think there were any new pieces, nor rare ones, as far as the minifigures. But, overall, this set was great.

not to the standard as earlier trains

After “a few” years of not doing Lego sets , i am HIGHLY disappointed in the (new to me ) Lego trains . Before this set i have had the pleasure of using the 1999 9v system and hands down the older system works so much better !!! This train lacks power for anything over 4 cars long, do you have an incline in your track set up ? Don’t try to use this train , it won’t make it up. unless you spend another $50 + for better equipment. My 9 v Lego train i can run 9 cars with out any issues, and up a hill is no issues. (no modifications) If you get this set .... better have LOTS... i mean LOTS of AAA batteries, even at only building what comes with the box , battery life is 2 maybe .... i mean maybe 3 hours. Why Lego changed to regular batteries i will NEVER understand.

A Complete Train

Overall, this is the best deal for the most visually complete and functional train. Three long cars. Plenty of visual details. A complete control system. One will not be easily inclined to seek additional cars to add to the train for a Lego City layout outside of professional train hobbyists. The only detraction of the set as-is would be the need to replace batteries like a bundle of cartridge shells. That can get old if the train is ran hard and often. There is the option to add the Lego Powered Up LED's behind the clear light bezels up front. Prior to installing the LED's, it is recommended by this author to line the inside of the front shell with black electrical tape to prevent the entire front sheel from glowing like a certain reindeer's nose. Otherwise, this set is perfect for those looking for a complete train and not a partial train and half-baked station as past iterations have been.

Great set, poor sticker quality

Just got this set for Christmas. Love 99.9% of it. Had to give it 4 stars on one really bad issue. The new stickers TLG has come out with are just not that good. Looks at my picture attached vs the actual box and older versions of this set. The new transparent stickers just don't have enough color to block out all that yellow under neigh. Have come to expect better quality from Lego and these stickers are a significant down grade from previous offering. Most disappointing as older version of this set (2018/19) had superior stickers. That said, the set looks great else wise. Good build. Kids love it. New Power Functions 2.0 works great. Already had a few crashes no issue with motor or controls. Track good. Small side builds are good. Could always use a few more figures but those are easily enough to add. Just can't fix that darn sticker problem.

Good, but disappointed with required bluetooth.

This is a sleek looking site and definitely more attractive than the prior year's models. I have the high speed train version of 2015 and 2017 as well. Unfortunately this just sits and collects dust because I have not connected the remotes to the 2019 trains through whatever process is needed. I can't tell if I have an issue on my end or yours now. I don't remember what controllers go to what set. AND I have an issue with EITHER the Controls, the Power, the connections, the engines, the batteries could be dead over time, and 100 other possible issues could be going on. BUT NOW I NEED TO FIGURE OUT IF I HAVE A BLUETOOTH OR APP ISSUE OR A PHONE/SOFTWARE COMPATIBILITY ISSUE, BEFORE TROUBLE SHOOTING TRAINS I BOUGHT IN 2019 (CARGO, DISNEY, AND "HIGHSPEED") Please fix this lego. This is completely unnecessary. Why can't the controls that come with the trains just control the trains? This adds more probable consequences than benefits... what are the benefits exactly? Do I control the Train that has a remote much more reliable than my phones touch screen... why not VIP points perhaps of some type? I am looking online for other retired sets. I just purchased the Lone Ranger Set. And am going to purchase the parts needed from the HIGHLY SUGGESTED LEGO TRAINS BOOK (HAS INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO BUILD OFFICIAL LEGO ENGINES AND CARS NEVER MANUFACTURED FOR SALE.

Enjoyable Introduction to Power Functions

I've recently returned to the Lego hobby, and this was my first powered build. Aside from the fun of building a Lego set, actually playing with it and seeing the train run around the track was a real pleasure. Even combining extra tracks from the 60238 and 60205 sets really expands on this fun, despite needing a very sizeable space. I look forward to adding more trains, and powered sets to my collection.

I love this set, but I had issues.

I’m a huge fan of LEGO City sets so I instantly bought two of these in order to make a 4 car train with an engine on either end. I also bought the lights to run it and downloaded the app. That is where my first gripe comes in. LEGO, you have an amazing attention to detail so why is it that the trains on the app have no option for you to use the B channel and run some lights? I know it’s possible because the Batman car app does that, but I have two cars with lights and the app is only capable of about 25% of what I want it to do. Second, and again this is that attention to detail that is lacking here. The front cowling of the train is packaged with a bunch of pieces that scratched it in both of my sets. It’s not very noticeable on one but the other one is pretty messed up. That’s 2 out of 2 so I’m guessing it probably happens pretty consistently in these sets. I subtracted a star for each cowling because they really do look terrible. Those pieces can be replaced so I would still recommend the set but be warned that the very noticeable yellow cowling will possibly be scratched when it arrives.

Everything is awesome.... with this train

This set is a must have for fans of the rails. If you would like to see where I believe the inspiration for this train came from look for a video on YouTube called Eurostar from the air. I like this set so much I bought two so I could have a full length model of the Eurostar, in lego form that is. Its not exact but it looks close enough for me. Overall fun to build and watch cruise around the rails. Only downside is not with the set itself really. We just want more trains and train track options like the older sets that had flashing lights/signs or lampposts for a train yard, and the ever elusive crossover track, this time if you were to make it needs an upgrade of the tracks being able to switch independently from one another.

Lego train fun

This train is really awesome, has a nice feature of the head lights and being available to be Bluetooth by using a phone or a tablet. The lights are awesome. And I love the design. Some improvements: you could make the train a little longer, have it come with 2 points and 8 pieces of flexible track, cheaper price of $100 and , maybe add the lights to this set and add a longer station.

LEGO wins again

My 11-year-old daughter fell in love with this LEGO train at a friend's house. She was thrilled to receive it for Christmas. And what is even better is that she could put it all together herself and set the track and play with it immediately. It would be nice if LEGO included more track so that you can do more than just have a circle. You can get more track, but it is prohibitively expensive and hard to come by. The switches are even harder to find. But overall, I am happy with it.

Awesome

First start with LEGO that can move around, upgrade to LEGO with remote, finally now going towards LEGO control by all or remote control. Awesome set my kids will Love to play with it. Only down thing is if only come with more tracks. Max speed Train will flip over, so I also got another set of extended tracks.

nice train

Beautiful train, with a lot of detail. However, my son is disappointed that the LEGO only has a front. The remote control has been made much simpler, which increases ease of use. A second train was ordered elsewhere (for almost 35.- less!) to complete the train for his birthday.

LEGO is the best thing for children.

I have a grandson who loves it. He puts the train on the table where there is already a whole LEGO city, and he can drive the train around it. Great!
