Worth the price
Very fun build didn't feel as repetitive as I was expecting, comes with good minifigues and nice light up brick.
Bigger than expected and clear directions
This is much bigger than I thought. My wife and I are really looking forward to putting this together. I love that it comes with the batteries and turns on. Also, the directions make it very easy to put together.
Challenging but fun and the result is very nice.
The finished lantern looks great! Instructions were easy to follow and having parts separated into stages was very helpful. Box says it is recommended for ages 9 and up, but with over 1,000 pieces (lots of very small parts), numerous repetitive patterns, and sometimes delicate assembly, this kit might easily overwhelm a kid working on it alone. This project is best for older children, teens, and adults. The light inside is a great idea but is only in one small part of the lantern and doesn’t project light throughout. Would’ve been 5 stars if the light went all the way through /around the lantern. Overall, a great LEGO kit.
Fun decor
Delightful set that perfectly captures the spirit of the Chinese New Year. The vibrant red and gold design to the elegant lanterns, make it a fantastic celebration of culture and tradition. It’s not just a build; it’s a piece of art that brings festive joy into your home. Assembling it is a smooth and enjoyable experience, with the perfect blend of complexity and fun. Whether you’re a LEGO enthusiast or simply looking to add a touch of festivity to your collection, this set is a must-have. It really brings the New Year’s energy to life in brick form!
Perfect LEGO Set for Celebrating Lunar New Year: S
As someone who celebrates Lunar New Year, I’ve been eagerly waiting for the LEGO Spring Festival Trotting Lantern set, and it did not disappoint! The colorful design captures the spirit of the Year of the Snake perfectly. The LEGO light brick is a fun touch, and the two silhouette window options create beautiful lighting effects.
I love that the lantern top and tier open up to reveal festive scenes like a food stall, decoration stall, and shadow theater. The five minifigures: two adults, two children, and a Year of the Snake character are perfect for imaginative play.
This set is a joy to build alone or with family, and it’s a wonderful way to celebrate the Lunar New Year. It’s a must-have for anyone who enjoys cultural celebrations!
Fun and entertaining!
An awesome Lego set! Easy to follow instructions. Only took a few hours to put together. Love that it lights up and included the batteries. Best for older children as it has small LEGO pieces.
Very tedious
I will update the pic once we get it fix again. This Lego set is very tedious and annoying. It took my son and I almost 4ish hrs to build as some of the pieces kept coming apart multiple times. Then once it was near to done the bottom part decided to come apart again and messed us all up. So now we have to redo the bottom part. Packaging is very eye engaging as it’s appealing. Safety it’s eh, as I definitely cut around my cuticle trying to take things apart to redo. According to my son if we actually bought this, we would be taking it back and getting another LEGO set. My preteen LOVES legos and for him to say that is something.
The Year of the Snake! A beautiful build with amaz
Building this set was such a fun experience! It took me around three hours from start to finish and was fairly straightforward. I especially love the small details, like the dumpling stand and the light-up feature—because what’s a lantern without a light? The colors are gorgeous, and I appreciate that the doors open and close, making it easy to display or store on a shelf. The instructions were clear, though I do miss the older style where each piece’s placement was highlighted—it made assembly a bit easier. Overall, this is a fantastic addition to my Lego wall!
Amazing!
I’m literally so happy to have received this Lego set. I can’t wait to put it together and display it. The box looks amazing so does the display on it I can’t wait to have it as a centerpiece in my living room.
Amazing details
I got this for my son to build. He is 6. This has amazing detail. He loved the spinning projector light and the fact that you can change it out in to another image. It was amazing to see the finished piece open up in to separate rooms. It took him an afternoon to finish but he was happy to play with it afterward for a while. It made a beautiful decorative piece next to the fan for the Lunar New Year. This is one that we will save and take out again next year.
Very Nice
It was very fun to build. The only downfall is that it is supposed to represent the 'Year of the Snake' but there was only one picture of a snake, which was a small one.
Otherwise, it is very colorful and pretty.
Fun Build and Great Decorative Piece
Very entertaining to build.
I'll be honest was sold as soon as I saw the year of the snake helmet.
I enjoyed modifying the three included stands with my extras.
Made an extra shadow puppet holder.
Was able to give the dumpling stand better upright stability with a dowel piece and two of the new gold hooks.
I like the light brick, only wish better stability in spinning as seems to come loose easily.
Real fun set!
Looks fantastic!
I absolutely loved building this and when finished was really happy how great it looks.
Good activity
Enjoyful ,excitement, good for arthritis , nice to work by myself
Thrilling Trotting Lantern
This lantern kit was an exciting build for the lunar new year. The intricate detail, the festive color combinations, lighting surprise and the doors opening to show cultural activities were thrilling. A very pleasant project with the easy to follow instructions.
Trotting lantern
It’s a very finicky piece . Gets easily displaced . I like the overall look of the piece though .
Great addition
Given the lower brick count the size and detail is fantastic! Good number of minifigures as well.
Great Set
I received this set yesterday and finished the build today. Very good design full of details.
Trotting Lantern
This set is absolutely beautiful. A few steps are a bit repetitive but it is worth it in the end. The only downside is that there needs to be two or more light bricks in the set, to see the whole set lit up like a real lantern would have been the icing on the cake. I totally recommend this set.
A satisfying build
I bought this set to fill in the twilight zone around new year, and this was perfect.
I love the new paper bag, and box with a lid set up. Not only is it environmentally better, but it's quieter (polly bags- amirite?) and it's easier to work with rather than the old-fashioned box you have to unglue (rip) to open, and tip stuff out of. I was able to utilise the box while building, and this kept my workspace minimal. I hope this is an ongoing thing because it made my life easier and the build more enjoyable.
I was missing one brick which I was able to easily source from my stash, and as always, the instructions were easy to follow.
I am a 60yo grandma, and playability isn't really a thing for me personally, but it seems as playable as any other build (respect to any other 60yo g'mas getting into the play). I am more about the visual, and this one is stunning with clear ornamental value (and humour). I can't wait to add to the Trotting Lantern with other items of its ilk.
