Differentials and Gears!! Oh My!!!
My wife bought this kit for me for Christmas. Assembly took about four evenings, two to three hours each. My dad (spending Christmas with us) was enthralled by the working differential.
First, some praise. This is a fantastic model and a fun build. Everything (with two exceptions covered later) feels very sturdy and I'm not scared that it will break when my cats shove it off a counter or something. The functioning differential, spinning engine, and fully independent suspension are marvelous! The moveable spoiler is nice, but more on that later.
Moving on to non-compliments. Please understand that these are not criticisms or cons, just things that could be good or bad depending on you.
I found the differential to be fiddly. I had to assemble and re-assemble it a few times before it was secured in the rest of the model. The Diff is a critical part of the model, it needs to be assembled correctly and then correctly installed.
Many (read: A Whole Heckin' Lot) assemblies and sub-assemblies exhibit handed-ness (I think the scientific term is chirality?), especially for the suspension. This means that it's easy to assemble them backwards. Take care when you reach these parts.
Steering is achieved through an easily-removable gear on the roof. This makes it easy to set a wheel-angle and then remove the gear for display. It also makes playing easier since you can roll the car and steer it easily through this gear. The down-side is that the steering-wheel is completely disconnected from the steering rack.
The spoiler is moveable and connected to a lever in cab. The issue is that using the lever causes slop to accumulate in the mechanism. It's better to move both (spoiler and lever) simultaneously.
I had a marathon assembly session Christmas day. I regretted this the next day as my hands hurt from forcing the pieces together (correct pieces, just snug). Good news? The parts fit snugly together, lending to the overall durability.
And now for some criticisms. Firstly, at least one part was mislabeled. The illustrations were correct, but the number listed was wrong, and I have no desire to take it apart and put it back together to figure out which part. Maybe next year... One final issue. The doors never feel secure on the model. Their joint bends and flexes contributing to flimsy feel and worries of breakage. I would appreciate a red cross piece (first lego kit of my life, I have no clue what the parts are called), not the snappy-stud things, at the door-close position to secure the doors when down
Super auto
Bouwplan was zeer goed en duidelijk heel goed te volgen stap per stap. Het eindproduct dat is zeer goed ben er super content en blij mee.
Good Lego set
Overall it’s a good Lego set, the Ford GT. Rear lights are barely holding on, just have to be gentle. Also, here are some errors I found in instructions… page 181, step 283, arrow point to the wrong hole but at least the finished image on right represents it properly.
Page 209, steps 331 and 332, wrong number referenced for the fender, should be 43 instead of 32. Page 216, steps 346 and 347, wrong number referenced, should be 43 instead of 32.
Everything else is good, all pieces were in the box, nothing missing. Worth adding to collection of LEGO sets.
Rip off
Sticker sheet is messed up. Several came off in the box. $130 set and Lego refuses to replace the stickers. Out of the box set was damaged. Horrible customer service. They took the money but won't support the product once paid. Probably the worst customer service of any company I have ever dealt with. They probably dropped a defective sticker sheet in while packaging. Why lose money on defective materials when you can just ship garbage. Poor support and high prices. Would not buy from them, same zero support as buying a cloned set. Don't waste your money.
A Beautiful Balance of Display and Engineering
As a Technic fan, the Ford GT really surprised me. At this scale, you don’t always get both detail and sturdiness, but this set manages a great balance of the two.
The proportions are spot-on — from the long, low hood to the iconic rear with its aerodynamic cutouts. It feels far more “filled in” than some other mid-size Technic cars, with relatively few gaps in the bodywork. The shaping of the front and rear ends especially captures the look of the real Ford GT in a way I didn’t expect at this size.
The build process was satisfying: lots of clever techniques in how the panels are connected, and a smooth integration of the functions. The opening doors, adjustable spoiler, and detailed V6 engine make it feel alive, even if it’s more of a display piece than a play set.
One thing I’ll note is that the doors can feel a little fragile compared to the rest of the model, but once it’s displayed, it holds together nicely. Speaking of display, the car looks fantastic on a shelf or wall-mounted next to other Technic supercars.
Overall, this is one of the better Technic cars in this price range: detailed, sleek, and an enjoyable build. It may not reach the complexity of the UCS-scale cars, but it definitely looks like it belongs in the same family

Mooie auto voor de schoothoop!
Het is een mooie auto om te bouwen. Als je echter de bouwinstructie volgt krijg je een auto die niet kan rijden. De achterwielen draaien namelijk in tegengestelde richting van elkaar. Dit is op te lossen door de auto weer gedeeltelijk uit elkaar te halen en een tandwiel te verwijderen.
Naar mijn mening is dit toch wel een grote ontwerpfout van Lego

Lego set
It was fire asf. Biggest lego set I’ve ever gotten and was my first purchase with my first paycheck and I got no regrets.
Fun build
I really enjoyed building this set. Technic sets tend to be a little more complicated but they end up pretty sturdy. Using the 3D in the app was helpful. The only thing I didn't like was the way the doors attached. The finished set looks good.
Mainly a hit
Overall I found this to be a quite enjoyable build. There is some excellent detail and it looks great when finished. However, the instructions were very difficult to read and there was at least one typo regarding which piece to use.
Technical Marvel, overly complex
This Lego set is not for the faint hearted. It was a challenging car to assemble which is great, however it quickly goes from challenging to downright frustrating to build. The techniques of construction are definitely admirable considering people had to design this car. However it seems overly complex and it’s a pain to build, literally. That being said the finished product is excellent. Working engine, differential and rear spoiler really add value to the play experience and I’d say it is still worth buying especially if you have a few Lego cars.
Decent lego set for car enthusiast
This set was my first lego set and first Technic set. The overall building experience was really enjoyable, and most of all, I was very satisfied with the finished product. I especially liked how the engine was made with clear parts, allowing the pistons to move visibly. The amount of stickers was not excessive, but I do wish at least the front Ford logo was a printed brick. There was some interference between rear spoiler mechanism and the diffuser below, so the whole rear spoiler did not fully lift up with the switch inside, which was a bit disappointing. Despite these issues, I really liked this set, and I would highly recommend it to anyone considering buying it.
Verstuurd zonder externe verpakking!
Deze kit besteld voor een auto fanaat voor kerst, maar werd echter geleverd zonder externe verpakking. Wat je dus krijgt: de lego technics box met in het midden een verzendlabel geplakt. Verklaring van bol: Doos is sterk genoeg dus wij verzenden dit zonder extra doos. Dit is een duur collectersitem van €100, en de doos kwam al half beschadigd (van de verzending) aan. Toppunt? De persoon waarvoor het kerstcadeau bedoelt was ontving het pakket en kon dus meteen zien wat zijn cadeau was. Dit kan echt niet. Aan bol.com: Bij dure collectersitems als deze én rond de feestdagen, stop jullie producten aub in een fatsoenlijke verzenddoos.
Beschadigde en reeds geopende doos
Dit is duidelijk een retourtje. Hoewel de doos van Bol in perfecte staat was afgeleverd, bleek binnenin een beschadigde lego-doos te zitten. Die was opengescheurd en duidelijk bewust geopend want plakband zegels waren overgesneden. Helaas heb ik geen tijd om retour te sturen, want wil het morgenochtend al als Sint-cadeau schenken. (Ik had de verpakking onmiddellijk bij ontvangst moeten geopend hebben). Maar ben hier verder niet over te spreken. Het is maar te hopen dat de set volledig is. Iemand die deze lego sets als investering wil kopen is er via Bol dus aan voor de moeite...
Prima product maar onverpakt bezorgd!!
Product op zich prima , maar de originele doos werd met een verzendlabel voorzien en zonder extra bescherming verzonden waardoor er lichte beschadigingen aan de originele Lego doos zijn.
Leuk cadeau
Dit pakket gekocht als cadeau. Het werd er goed ontvangen en er is direct begonnen met de bouwen. Verder snel geleverd, top service van Bol.
Mooie set in een aantrekkelijke prijsrange
Mijn hernieuwde kennismaking met Lego Technic na flink wat jaren. Dit is een erg leuke build en zeker een mooi model. Ik ben er ruim 4 uur en drie kwartier mee bezig geweest. De levering was goed. De doos, zeker bij de duurdere Lego modellen van belang, is onbeschadigd aangekomen. Dat is in fysieke winkels vaak een probleem door de diefstalbeveiliging die er te strak omheen gespannen wordt. En natuurlijk worden deze te pas en te onpas niet bepaald voorzichtig aangeraakt. Maar nu terug naar de set. Er zit een prachtig dik boek bij. De eerste bladzijdes zijn gereserveerd voor een stuk achtergrondinformatie over de Ford GT. Met mooie afbeeldingen van zowel van de historie alsook van het echte model waarop de set is gebaseerd. De eerste fase van de bouw, staat vooral in het teken van de wielophangingen en stuurinrichting. Deze zijn erg mooi en gedetailleerd uitgevoerd. Ook de transparante motor is een leuke toevoeging. De voor- en achterklep en de deuren kunnen open. Het model heeft net als het origineel vlinderdeuren. Hoewel dit soepel open gaat, voelt een en ander erg fragiel aan. Met name bij het sluiten is het de vraag hoe ze precies moeten liggen. De kleppen voor en achter voelen stevig aan en geven mooi zicht op de onderliggende techniekjes. De spoiler achterop is beweegbaar en wordt bediend met een soort van schakelpookje in het interieur. Genoeg te zien en te beleven aan dit model. Kijk ik kritischer naar het model zelf, dan vallen een aantal zaken op. Zo is het jammer dat het stuur niet verbonden is met de stuurinrichting. Het is volgens mij wel te realiseren met enkele extra onderdelen. De voorwielen bedien je met het ontsierende bruine tandwieltje op het dak. Dit verwacht je normaal op een model waarmee wordt gespeeld. Gezien de prijs, complexiteit en het formaat zie ik dit niet echt als speelgoed. Ik had hier liever een draaiend stuurwiel gezien. Ten opzichte van het echte model, vind ik dat Lego de lijnen niet lekker heeft getroffen. Met name de print op de koplampen, de opvulling van de wielkasten en de lijn van de A naar het einde van de C-stijl. Het dikke instructieboek laat zien dat het origineel best een sierlijk lijnenspel heeft en dat de wielkasten mooi zijn gevuld. Maar ach, dat vergeet je snel wanneer je met de build bezig bent. Het is absoluut een mooie set, van een prima formaat en redelijke prijs. Hoewel de prijs wel ontzettend schommelt en helaas heb ik de set net op het verkeerde moment besteld. Lego zou wat mij betreft wel meer wagens met deze prijsrange uit mogen brengen. Deze kost 1/3 of minder van wat de meeste grote (sportieve) wagens van Lego Technic kosten. Al met al krijgt dit model van mij gewoon de maximale score.
Challenging but very rewarding
This is my very first time building LEGO in 50 years so initially I had a hard time (I’m
Not exaggerating 🤭) but once I got the hang of it I loved it! I took some bad choices here and there but managed to go back a couple of steps and repair what I did wrong.
It sure helped that I’ve build some IKEA furniture over the years 😅
My experience would have been 10/10 if the sum and specifics of the pieces would have been specified on/in every bag.
Part from that, from now on I’m an engineer 😎 and a race driver 🥳
Very Cool
This was a fun build with a lot of clever techniques used which I had not seen before. The doors were a little fiddly and took a few attempts to get right and overall was really happy with the outcome. A very cool vehicle.
