It's that big I had to take a serious break from building, it keep my sanity.
As a true Potter head and a Lego enthusiast this experience truly was a dream coming true! Building Hogwarts in Lego was so much fun! I recommend!
The hints I dropped in the run up to Christmas worked - The Wife bought this amazing kit for me. It's a true showstopper, towering spires and sprawling gothic buildings recreating the wonder of the Hogwarts Castle. As ever, I find some customisation improves the finish - I've never liked the spiny plastic trees as they just look awful, and the roofline needed some additional work to do justice to the size of the building. And of course: lighting. This is a build that just screams out for lighting it up, and there are several aftersales options to choose from. I, again, adapted the lighting kit to enhance the building, rather than turn it into a flashing Blackpool illuminations. Great fun to build, engrossing, excellent instructions with just a couple of missing pieces (par for the course) and then the fun of personalising it afterwards - lovely. A bit of a beast to display - mine has to be in two parts to show it off, but that's OK.
This was one of my first biggest buys on LEGO and I cannot be happier with my purchase. This product seems expensive but until you have it built right in front of you you don't realise the sheer size of the build. It was the best money I ever spent, and building it was so much fun. As I got further into the build I realised the amount of detail the LEGO team put into this set. I highly recommend buying this set as long as you have a fair amount of patience and skill level to build it.
It's a really fun experience to be able to recreate the magical world of Hogwarts, even though it's expensive, it's definitely worth the price. It took me a whopping 3 weeks to put it together, but the result is really impressive. I'm really proud. The instruction manual (4 booklets) was also very clearly explained. So, I definitely recommend it to everyone, it's a truly unique experience for both young and old.
A wonderful set that you can enjoy for many days, really beautiful. But be careful: the scale is micro, meaning smaller than the standard LEGO scale. Therefore, this set cannot be combined with other sets! I wanted to build it alongside other sets, but that is not possible. This is not a criticism, but something to be aware of / to know when you buy it.
Knowing how large the finished piece is I put off building this set for several months as finding somewhere to display it was proving to be tricky. I finally got something figured out and couldn't wait to start building this set. I am still completely obsessed with Harry Potter and it is this theme that drew me back in to Lego as an adult needing to fill time during the first Lockdown. That spiralled quite rapidly and led to this beauty becoming mine. This is one of those sets that does benefit from lighting. The stained glass windows are so beautiful lit up and I am actually contemplating rigging something up for the display. I was really surprised at the sheer level of detail in this model, especially as it is micro figure size. The nods to each of the Harry Potter movies is impressive but The Chamber Of Secrets is my favourite scene representation. Going in to the build I was not sure about the micro figure proportions. I am converted! This may be as I build primarily for display but because it is such a small scale it means you can get a lot more detail in the build without it becoming prohibitively expensive or ridculously large. I was surprised that even with the smaller scale there is a lot of architectural and furnishing detailing; admittedly some is created by stickers but I can live with that now I have a sticker fixing system in place that means they usually look okay. I fell in love with the box for this build and was worried I wouldn't enjoy the build or the finished item as I had probably got myself over excited about it. The build was a wonderful experience - All 8 movies got played whilst I built and then I had to resort to the audiobooks as the films finished before I did! The finished item lives in my bedroom and it makes my heart sing and a grin break out every time I look it. Number Of Pieces: 6020 Approximate Price Per Piece: £0.06 Build Time: 18.5 Hours
It's fantastic! Clearly designed with a lot of fun in mind. There are a lot of details (and of course, there's always something missing when building at a very small scale). Building at a micro scale isn't a hindrance, it's actually fun to see the designer's creativity. The figures are a limitation if you want to play with them, but that wasn't my intention. Take your time (1-2 bags per day) and make sure you have a place where you can display it nicely afterwards, because it's big!
Excellent model of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry, an exciting and challenging build. I intend to illuminate to castle with LED lights. Well done to the LEGO Team for recreating iconic locations from the HP novels and films and including so much detail in tiny spaces such as the magical chessboard, Mirror of Erised, Defence Against the Dark Arts Classroom & Great Hall. I feel there is potential for more large scale Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts sets, perhaps detailed models of the Hogwarts Express (optional power functionality/modification) and Platform 9 & 3/4/Kings Cross Station, Hogsmeade Station, Hogsmeade Village, Aragog's Forbidden Forest Lair, Chamber of Secrets, Ravenclaw Tower Common Room, DADA/Transfiguration/Divination/PotionsClassrooms, Quidditch Stadium, Ministry of Magic, Little Hangleton Graveyard, Riddle House, Leaky Cauldron, MACUSA Headquarters (Woolworth Tower, New York), Second Salemer's Church, NY City Hall Subway Station/Obscurus Rampage, French Ministry of Magic, Nicolas Flamel's Alchemy Workshop, Lestrange Crypt/Grindelwald's Rally & Pere Lachaise Cemetery.
Incredibly large and fun LEGO set with a lot of details, perfect for Harry Potter fans. I've been working on it for several afternoons and evenings so far.
This set is absolutely stunning! As a teenage Lego fan, this is one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. It’s a really fun and challenging build, with tons of hidden features and attention to detail. Even though it is much smaller than minifigure scale, the designer was able to add tons of detail to the different rooms and really capture the feel of the castle. Many of the unnamed students included in the set resemble specific characters, like Luna, Neville, and Ginny. I love the dragon on the tower and the tiny Ford Anglia! The stained glass windows look beautiful when you shine a light through! The set perfectly captures the iconic Hogwarts skyline and looks great on a coffee table or shelf for display. The exterior of the set looks very realistic and reminds me of sets from the Architecture line. There are many interesting building techniques, especially on the circular towers. I loved seeing how the designer used pieces intended for a minifigure scale set (a paintbrush for a broomstick, roller skate for the car tires, ski poles on the tops of the towers, etc). For a 6,000 piece set, it is surprisingly easy to move and is very sturdy. This set is absolutely worth the money and I would love to see more sets like it in the future!
Great LEGO set, very beautiful. Wonderful details. Long and enjoyable to build, and looks very nice in my daughter's room, really a showstopper. Super set and good value for money, although it is still a lot of money. No regrets.
Fantastic to put together, really recommended.
I decided on a whim that I wanted to build something Lego, so I purchased this castle! It was awesome. It took me a few hours each day for a week to complete; then I ordered a lighting kit for it, wired it, and then my brother-in-law made me a rotating stand so each side could be seen! I would definitely recommend this build!
This is by far the most detailed set I have ever built. Many of the build techniques used in this set are brilliant. The stained glass effect works great and the outer details, including all of the rocks on the base work very well. This is one where you build it and find a place in your home for it to be viewed for a long time. There are more stickers than I would like, but the amount of story detail that they provide are impressive. This set pulls from elements from all chapters of the series. If you light this set up, it truly becomes magical and the details really shine. This is my favorite lego set by far.
Revived this as a Christmas present from my husband. I'm a huge HP fan. Never really owned my own lego set as I just typically help my 5 year okd daughter build her sets, but so happy to have this. The details on each section are amazing. As each section began to take form, I got more and more ezcited. Such a wonderful experience building this. I'll now add more to the start of my HP collection!
I received this set as a gift from my family for my 38th birthday... combining my two childish joys -- LEGO and Harry Potter. The set is incredibly detailed and at the piece count and price, it's pretty maxed out in terms of what could be included, but I felt myself missing some of the other iconic elements of the castle like the Astronomy Tower and Central/Bell Tower complex. I had such a fun time with the build I decided to try my first ever mod. So far, using elements from a second of the same set and the Big Ben set, I've made some progress extending the castle. Some elements and sizing haven't worked, so I'll be tearing it down and trying again, but it's been one of the most rewarding LEGO experiences I've ever had.
Harry Potter is such a big part of my life that i just knew I needed this soon or later! And what a journey as been, putting this set together Every detail, every scene represented, pure gold! I'm so happy and can't believe I have this beautiful piece at home! Now i'm just sad that it's over!
Bought this for a birthday gift from the whole family for my 13 year old daughter .She built it over 2 days ..14 and a half hours in total. Very easy to build but some parts are fiddly. However some bricks were slightly bents in the packets and do not sit flat once built. Even with the whole weight of the castle this has not sorted out the problem. Apart from that its ok. Not very easy to play with as there is not a lot of room for your hand to fit inside so tiny bits keep pinging off. I have put a battery opetated tea light in the great hall at night yo show off the stain glass windows.
By far the best and most fun LEGO set I have ever built. The level of detail is so impressive and the fact that they managed to flawlessly include so many scenes from all the books makes it so great! My fiancée and I spent 2 days building this massive castle and loved every minute of it. Be prepared for lots of “oooohs” and “ahhhhs” when people see it In person.
