Fun but it has some downsides
My feedback is consistent with many I’ve read. The base house is great, I enjoyed every minute of building it; it was a straightforward build, no issues with instructions, few stickers, done in a few hours. But the last 3 bags just don’t quite have the same appeal to them; I can understand the party theme, but it felt disconnected from bag end.
Value for money, well im glad I picked up at slightly reduced price; it’s not a £230 set. Maybe £180 at a push.

Wonderful set
It's always impressive what the LEGO designers can do. They even manage to recreate the authentic Lord of the Rings atmosphere using LEGO. The price and quality ratio is perfect.

I am not trying to rob you I am trying to help you
G'day,
The build experience on this one was pretty great, lots of great techniques used assembling the main building.
The tree with the spin around barrels is pretty great too.
I feel like all the other bits like the cake, the tent and the fireworks displays were last minute additions and didn't fit well within this set and they could have been left out.
That being said this one took 4.3 hours to build at at a hefty $399 AUD this averaged out at $92 per hour of building fun. Almost double my average spending per hour.
Great set, great display piece and some great minifigs but the price left more to be desired. Perhaps simply overpriced from the start.

Very happy.
Once I have it in it's display box, the Shire will get pride of place. I just don't know where yet!
I have a few gripes but nothing serious other than my disappointment with the party tree, a most un-tree like structure and a design let down. I may have to go to pick-a-brick to find the components for a more realistic looking tree. Or maybe Lego can send me an alternative?

A little peace of the Shire in your home.
A very nice set with lots of little details Lord of the Rings Fans will enjoy. I loved the interior of Bag End and the execution of Bilbo's little joke.

The Shire
Another beautiful addition to Rivendell and the Tower of Sauron.

Very expandable
The Shire set has been critised for value for money, and for the poor quality of the trees, and these are all valid issues I agree with. But what it lacks in the default build, it can really make up with the ability to expand on it (if you have the pieces to do so), make the trees better, increase the footprint, and for me, it was a case of ignoring the satalite pieces and instead give the Proodfoot family an extension piece. Another tip is to use the Bonsai Tree set to replace the default tree that comes in the set. The set is worth it if you have some additional pieces to expand, add more foiliage and of course, upgrade that tree!.

Good Set, Terrible Price
As someone who already purchased Rivendell and Barad-dur previously, I wanted to keep my collection of these sets complete. One of the biggest negatives of this set is the price point, especially if you weren't able to get the gift with purchase at release (I was). Compared to the previous two sets, I do not feel like this set should have been 50% of the price of the other two because the piece count is much lower and the build feels much less majestic. I feel like having more unique minifigures would have helped ease the pain of the price point (maybe the dwarven company or at least. a Ring-Wraith or two) since half of the figures have appeared in at least one of the other two sets already with some minor differences. Putting aside from the price, the finished Bag-End is very nicely designed and has beautiful amounts of details and surprises. The main criticism I have of the build itself is the stand alone tree, which looks poorly designed (my wife commented that it looks like an intern designed it). My last issue is hopefully just a problem with my particular set. The Happy Birthday banner was printed with the holes upside down so it doesn't hang correctly. I am hoping to eventually get a replacement, but the initial message was that there weren't any available, which is not reasonable for a set this expensive. Overall, it is a good set to build for an inflated price, but I would recommend both of the previous two over this one.

Lotr love
This is something i had been waiting to be
Released since the concept. I LOVE lotr. All time favorite. It was a little challenging to build some of the instructions could use some rework as well as some of the design needing something changed but overall i love this piece. I will NEVER pass up lotr merch. Price point also kinda high for what you get maybe $200? But will be getting the rest of the lotr packs just know they are way to expensive.

An Unexpected Visit
We have Minifigs of ourselves, so we went on an adventure to see the hobbits of the Shire! I love this set, and I enjoyed that it came with the Proudfoots! I feel the price could have been a little lower; however, I did get the Sméagol and Déagol GWP, so I can definitely justify this purchase lol.

Missed opportunity
Plain and simple: main piece looks better IRL than on pictures but could use some more shading in green departamanet. This set is nowhere near the quality and feel compared to Rivendell and Barad-Dur. Too many side builds that are lacking in many areas, especially trees. I was very excited when I first heared rumours about this set but it leaves so much to be desired. Missed opportunity and quite pricy for what it is.

Too small and overpriced
I wanted this to go with m Rivendale and knew it would be smaller but tiny in comparison. The round door, which was one of the reasons I wanted this is only 2” and mound less than 5” built. Easy to build but I would recommend waiting for double points or on sale; wish I had!

Fun, cute.
I love LOTR so when this set came out I was very excited! Little Easter eggs make it a fun time for any fan of the films. That being said the price did not match the build. Compared to the other sets I feel kinda ripped. The party tree alone was a huge disappointment compared to the trees of rivendell. Over all I'm glad I bought it. To tie in all my sets from lotr! I hope they make more 🙏

Should have been better value for money
Overall and as mentioned by many Lego fans here, the set is quite interesting to build. The major pros being plenty of minifigs and different accessories, along with a LOTR atmosphere feeling for those seeking it and a really solid build (the Bag End is really heavy!). The cons to mention are the atrocious free-standing tree and the value for money. For 280 EUR budget I would expect this set to consist of 2,400-2,500 parts, which, unfortunately, is not the case here.

A really fun build but…
The shire is iconic and this set does it justice for the most part. The side builds feel extra and not with the main build at all. For the price point, I was overall a little disappointed with the finished product and its size. I love lord of the rings and Lego, and this set has the potential to be great, but it ultimately misses the mark of being another exquisite set in an iconic line up.

Completing the Collection
Our family loves all Middle Earth stories and had to have The Shire to finish the collection. We build Rivendale and Barad-dûr last summer and knew when this set was released it would be needed in the collection.
At time of review we are only half way done building but have had so much fun with the details. As always even the small filler areas like the garden and front door with the coat rack were so much fun to build.

Really fun but really expensive
This is a really fun set to put together: lots of cool details and, once complete, looks great. The downside is that there’s just not much here for the money: the size of the set is okay, but the interior is very sparse. The side builds are okay but as others have mentioned, that tree is atrocious. I had some leftover leaves from the (amazing) Treehouse build, and tried to spruce it up a bit. But of course I shouldn’t have to do this. I was lucky to bag the GWP so that helped absorb the price (a bit) if this set. Ultimately, as a LOTR fan, there was never any doubt I was going to get this. I just wish there was more to it.

I don’t know half of you…
…half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
As a lifelong LOTR fan, believe me when I say that building this set had me emotional several times. The care that went into every single detail cannot be overlooked, from the fun Easter eggs in Bag End to the party for Bilbo. Someone that loved LOTR and LEGO clearly designed this set!
It rounds out my LOTR LEGO collection nicely, and absolutely didn’t disappoint. 10/5 - highly highly recommended!!
