Excellent aesthetic but some design flaws.
Overall a great kit, and I do love the aesthetic. The OG Pirates of the Caribbean film was one of my favorites growing up, so this kit is right up my alley. That being said, I do have a lot of complaints. I'm comparing this build to the Pirates of Baracuda Bay (in ship form), as I believe that one is an excellent overall design. My first complaint is with the masts and sail design. It feels a bit sloppy and the sails are too flat and rigid, as opposed to the design on Baracuda which results in a billowing appearance. Second complaint is with the anchors. The chains just attach directly to the deck. Would have been nice to have them attach to a hoist assembly on the mast, like it does on Baracuda. Third complaint is with the captains cabin and helm. I don't really care about having the helm linked to the rudder, but in order to accomplish that they had to compromise on quite a bit. The cabin doors just open to nothing because the linkage assembly takes up half of the cabin space. Also the helm has supports on the front and the back, so there is no space for a helmsman. And then they stuck a mast right behind that. I do like when these kits have functional elements, but the execution on this one detracts from the overall build quality imo.
Overall I do love this set. But I have to say that Baracuda Bay is a better designed set, which is strange considering a complete ship wasn't even the primary design intent of that kit. Still, they do look pretty dope next to each other!

Pirates of the caribbean fans unite
I got this for myself for Christmas giving that pirates of the caribbean is my favorite movie franchise of all time and just getting back into lego now as a adult I definitely had to purchase this . Overall I really enjoyed the final look the building experience was pretty good for the most part minus the stairs angle I found that to be really challenging and annoying the only real 2 negatives is the cost and the brick built stand it comes with as I felt it was kinda useless just to inflate the peice count and given that its optional if you dont use it then it goes to waste like it did for me . The price being basically 400 is steep so hope your a huge potc fan I think most will enjoy this but its definitely for the fans who love the movies :)

Awesome set! Fun to build! A+++
As a Lego Boat lover, this is definitely the most awesome one I’ve ever purchased. I’ve always been a big fan of PotC. This one is definitely better than the Silent Mary released about a decade ago. It is extremely detailed all the way down to the Captain’s cabin at the stern. The sails look amazing and are made of a sturdy fabric. The boat is symmetrical and does include a decent amount of repetition. The boat itself is very sturdy and holds up well on its stand. The minifigs are very detailed. This set is definitely recommended to any boat or PotC fan.

Why is the Rum Gone
Gday,
Beautiful build. Great display piece. Fun build too.
Great looking ship, looks great in all black next to other lego ships.
I believe it's good value for money. 6-7 hours of build time.
Would recommend buying and building this one.

Awesome set
Really enjoyed the experience. So much fun. ONLY complaint are the ropes. This is my second boat purchase. Endurance was the first. The “ropes” that atta h from the frame to the sales are bent upon arrival. Just like the endurance. Not all but about 1/3 of them. Lego needs to ship them in a more sturdy way. Other than that I was very satisfied

Another fun ship build
A thoroughly enjoyable build. Like many of the details. A little overpriced but it is worth the pleasure of building it.

The Pearl Returns
Great set. For me I really only like 2 themes Pirates/POTC and Lego Chima. I remembered loving the 2011 set when it came out as a child, but from 2016 on I changed me view on it because that set was lack luster. This one on the other hand is really good! Not much wrong with the set and I’m glad to have ordered it immediately. For the naysayers, I guess the monotone black color works for many people because it looks good, sold out and on back order.
Critiques:
The Black pearl should have 9 cannons on the cannon level, this et has 8, but that’s honestly not bad really. Infront of the captain’s cabin there should be 2 cannons on each side, but they’re empty. I understand why it’s like that, and I’ve moded mine to have that, but still.
I do believe Lego will make more ships, and I’d like to see Lego make their own created ships and not name branded ships.
For Lego;
With this set and the 2020 Barracuda ship, you have set your own standard now for ships, anything that is below how they are now is not acceptable “cough cough 3 in 1 pirate ship 🗑️”.
Just keep up the momentum and gove us good ships and keep it more affordable as the off brand companies are on your tail when it comes to pirate/sailing ships.

Missing pieces
The set is great in its minor detail and mini figure selection, but it all the detail seems to be put into the underside cannons and rudder controls rather than the actual stability of the boat or making sure all the pieces are included in the package. 7 hours of building to find 4 pieces missing in the last bag, and the final parts meant for the middle of the ship fell apart while installing causing all the pieces to fall into the bottom of the cannon mechanism. Had to disassemble and rebuild the entire structure, still missing 4 pieces, thought QA actually got paid for their time. Won't be buying these master builds again.

Bring Me the Horizon
I'll address the Pintel in the room, this set is expensive and if it wasn't for the pirate's stash of Insider Points that I have acquired over a year the two gifts with purchases, I would have likely waited until 'The Black Pearl' arrived in Tortuga.
The build is very proper, and I enjoyed the building techniques. It took about 5 hours spread over three days. For reference, I have the original Pearl, Queen Anne's Revenge, the Silent Mary. The new Pearl, I don't care Disney, is a lot bigger than the play ships of the years gone by. While it's nice to have Anne Marie and Marty, I would have LOVED to have Pintel and Ragetti instead. The Captain's quarters is tight but nice but don't be a fool, there's no way to access it through the doors on the ship. I also disliked that the Helm can't have a figure standing behind it. The helm feature I fear is not built right as the rudder only goes one way. The rigging is good, but like others have commented, having the string to connect everything together should have been included. So, if you're bounty is plentiful, set sail for the horizons, or just wait another year until the 'Pearl' sails into your port.

Captain Jack Sparrows Pirate Ship Review
The new Lego Captain Jack Sparrows Pirate Ship is incredible, loved building every little detail of the ship, I surprisingly even enjoyed building the stand for the ship as it used alot of classic lego bricks so it was very nostalgic. So happy with my purchase just wished it was a little bit cheaper and had maybe one or two more minifigures for the price I paid. Just about to finish building this amazing set. Thank you for bringing back Lego Pirates of the Caribbean. It's one of my most loved lego themes. Thank you.

Wanted this since I was a kid
Like the title says, I adored the Pirates series, and I wanted The Black Pearl more than anything. The set was fun to build and I binged the trilogy while doing so. Not complicated to do and I love the functions, especially the cannons. My only two hangups are the name (just call it the Black Pearl, or if not, its CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow's Pirate Ship), and also the price. It's only slightly too expensive, but I couldn't resist. Drop it $50 and you've got a reasonable price for anyone who loves LEGO and the pirates series.

Dream set!!!
Wow where to start.I can say that this has been a dream set of mine just because of how great the films are and missing out on the first lego pirates of the Caribbean ship, this set is just perfect not only for how large the ship is and how detailed it is, just because of the price point for what you get, as a collector who only gets the larger sets I can tell you now that this is well worth the money and lego has gone and created another masterpiece again. Would highly recommend!!!!

Good but some important misses
Love it, beautiful set! Entertaining build, and no stickers which gives it an extra star imo. However, I believe Lego missed on the following: Sails creased by poor shipping method, leg printing missing, popular characters missing, no proper monkey, set name was wrong, green figurehead would have looked better all black with metallic printing.

The Black Pearl
Amazing set overall. So glad to see a return to Pirates of the Caribbean. It would be great to get another Queen Anns Revenge or a Flying Dutchman. Only complaints about the set would be that it is definitely overpriced and some of the mini figures could have a bit more detail(leg printing).
To those complaining about the GWP buy it the night of release or stop complaining, not that hard of a concept. I’m more than happy to sell you mine.

Near Perfect
The set should be $350 max and it’s a crime it doesn’t include Pintel and Ragetti. It really should have included them. The build itself is incredible. The only thing that bugs me about it is the double doors on the main deck not actually leading into the captains quarters. It’s just a liquor cabinet instead. The canons being able to all slide out at the same time with the turn of the knob is an amazing feature I love. Way better choice than an empty interior. You wouldn’t be able to access the interior easily on this set if they did make it all interior space. Captains quarters is really nice. Overall beautiful and a near perfect version of a Lego Black Pearl I could ever hope for ! Fantastic

Great set, but very disappointing promotion issue
I am very happy with the Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Ship (10365) itself – it is a beautiful set, full of details and fun to build. As a LEGO fan, I was really looking forward to this release.
However, I am extremely disappointed with the promotion related to this launch. LEGO advertised the Captain Jack Sparrow’s Compass (5009609) as a gift with purchase, but it was not available in the LEGO Store in Wrocław on the release day – even though I bought the set within the very first hours after the store opened.
This feels very unfair and disrespectful towards loyal LEGO fans. From what I see, the same problem occurred not only in Poland, but also across many stores in Europe. LEGO heavily promoted this GWP, yet in reality most fans could not get it.
The set is fantastic, but the way the promotion was handled leaves a very negative impression. I truly hope LEGO will take this feedback seriously and ensure such situations will not happen again.

Dream set!
This is easily my favorite set in my collection. I was blown away by how tall it actually is once completed. I know there is a lot of contention surrounding the price, and I completely understand. However, judged purely as a display model, this set is easily one of the best of the year, if not the best. It displays wonderfully and immediately draws attention when you enter the room. It’s almost as tall as Barad-dûr!
I do have an issue with some of the minifigures. This might sound nitpicky, but I think having valid criticisms is important. My main critique is the reuse of Gandalf’s face print for Cotten from the Shire set, which feels very lazy, especially for a set that costs nearly $400. I also think all the figures should have had leg printing. It doesn’t need to be over the top, but even a little would go a long way. Otherwise, this is a quality build and a must have!

Must have set
I spent two days assembling this set, definitely takes more time to assemble a ship than my more typical spaceships. The finished ship is looking amazing, a very good homage to the Black Pearl in the movies.
The build is fun, the only repetitive element is to build 16 identical cannons but the moment you twist the wheels to prepare for a full broadside it is forgiven. Also once again a set with no annoying stickers, thank you very much LEGO.
I'm not the slightest surprised that it went directly to back order from early release, you really want this set in your collection.
