in a world where Lego is actively eroding their smaller mechs and taking away their pose-ability, this mech stands as one of the few still remaining that is both incredibly well shaped and still actually playable. If I had to reccomend any small mech, it would be this one. The Marvel and Ninjago theme could learn a lot from Monkie Kid. (Also side note, I just love Monkie Kid. They need more sets.)
I received this complimentary product from @Influenster for my honest review. My boys LOVE legos, so they were more than happy to help with this review lol! My ten-year old built it with no problems at all! That easy to follow directions or perfect. The only downfall is you have to really push the Lego guy on the top of the figure to get it to stay (see video). They loved how the figure can move and be used with it without the mini figure in it! They “weapons” are very sturdy too! They love it!
Like always, my son had a blast putting this together. He was so proud with himself because he can complete sets like these in very little time. My youngest son is starting to collect the Monkie Kid sets, he loves them.
Great price for the piece count, to start! The stickers were easy to apply (I use a knife to precise placement) and I could see a child being capable of applying them without help. The mech is poseable, and comes with two interchangeable weapons- a golden sword, and the Monkey King’s staff, the Ruyi Jingu Bang. It features two clips on the back for easy weapon storage if you’d like to free up the hands. I keep the staff clicked to the back so that the mech can hold other mini-figures or polybag builds. The standout feature of the mech is the combination feature it has with 80041, both sets priced at an affordable 20$!
Such an awesome mech for this price. I'm a huge fan of the Monkie Kid theme so I gave this little set a shot and couldn't be happier. A great build, near perfect articulation for its size, and looks great on display (which I was not planning on doing). The integration with Mei's jet is very well done, and brings both sets to another level. If you are on the fence about this theme, it has so much to offer. The show is really impressive for a kids show (reminds me of my love for Dragon Ball as a kid), the sets are intricate and well thought out, and the colors and characters are great. My photos don't include the stickers by the way. Can't wait to build the Monkey King Ultra Mech!
The Monkie kids combi mech is the best mech you can buy. The value is in its size and posability. The minifigures are also nice since the MK is very unique and you can never have too many army builder characters. One of the best mech sets I have ever purchased and a very pleasant building experience. More small scale mechs need this ones engineering and design.
