The most beautiful and realistic set of the LOTR Lego series.
Interestingly, there hasn't been a review written for this particular item yet. That's surprising, considering that, in my opinion, this is the most beautiful set from the Lord of the Rings LEGO collection. It all started about a year ago. After not having held LEGO bricks in over 20 years, I accidentally discovered that LEGO had released a Lord of the Rings LEGO theme set. Since I'm also a big fan of Lord of the Rings, I decided to revive my old hobby. I received "The Battle of Weerthop" as my first set, followed by several other sets, and this is my latest acquisition. To begin with, the design is excellent and very realistic. The castle seems to have been taken straight out of the film. The large castle wall is brilliantly constructed, and the sloping Horn Bridge is also excellently reproduced. The details of this set are amazing, and so are the minifigures. LEGO has put a lot of attention into this. I especially think that the King Theoden's helmet and outfit are brilliantly executed. A nice and fun detail is that a section of the wall, just like in the film, can be inflated. Furthermore, I think it's a plus that there are very few stickers to apply (unlike, for example, the Mines of Moria set). I'm not a big fan of stickers. Finally, I think the price-to-quality ratio of this set is excellent (with 1368 pieces), especially if you compare it to the relatively expensive, but small, Mines of Moria set. The only drawbacks I see in this set are the lack of the "LEGO" minifigure (which was still an important part of the whole), the horns on the Horn Bridge (which I don't find very beautiful), and the separation of the (further brilliantly constructed) royal hall from the rest of the fortress. Overall, this is a must-have for Lord of the Rings LEGO fans and the most beautiful (and most realistic) set in the series. This set should not be missing if you are collecting LOTR LEGO. Now, let's move on to the LEGO Hobbits theme series... Tip: try to get this set (as I did) at a discounted price.
