LEGO Insiders Days run from 7 through 12 July this year, and that week comes with two free sets. Spend 180 euros or more and the LEGO Ideas Sea Serpent (set 40912) comes along, with no theme requirement. Stay under that but spend at least 100 euros on Creator 3-in-1, City or Friends, and you get the smaller Airplane (5010053) instead. Both are for LEGO Insiders only, and only while stocks last. Combine the two thresholds well and both gift sets land in a single order.
That’s the answer for July. The rest of this page tracks what shows up month after month, what has just ended, and when a free set genuinely makes your purchase cheaper rather than just nicer.
A GWP, or gift with purchase, is a set LEGO gives away once your order passes a spend threshold. Those promo sets are almost always exclusive and never sold separately, which makes them the most honest discount LEGO hands out itself. But free is only really free when you were going to make the purchase anyway. So put a price alert on the set you want, and you’ll see when a promotion and a good price line up.

What you can claim in July 2026
During Insiders Days (7–12 July 2026) two GWPs are open on LEGO.com. They count separately, so with the right sets in your basket you can grab both.

The Sea Serpent is the more appealing of the two. It’s a reinterpretation of the classic 1992 Sea Serpent (set 6057), now 241 pieces with two minifigures, and the threshold applies across your whole basket with no theme limit. That’s generous for a free set: many GWPs stay under a hundred pieces. The Airplane is a small extra of 149 pieces, meant for anyone who lands just under 180 euros but buys within Creator 3-in-1, City or Friends.
Because the two thresholds count separately, a single order of 180 euros or more with enough Creator, City or Friends boxes in it earns both gift sets at once. Do reckon with what you actually pay: the threshold applies to the amount after discount, not to RRP.
Claiming is automatic: hit the threshold and LEGO.com drops the gift set into your basket, no code needed. If it doesn’t appear, stock has usually run out. GWPs sell out fast in a busy promo week, so waiting until the last day is a gamble.
Watch the end date. After 12 July, Insiders Days closes and this slot sits empty until LEGO announces the next promotion, usually early August. Order in mid-July and you can no longer count on the Sea Serpent.
The points promotion runs in the same week: from 7 through 12 July, LEGO.com gives double Insiders points on Disney, Education, Harry Potter, Jurassic World, Marvel, Sonic, Speed Champions and Wicked. The Maersk set (40955, around 30 euros) even counts for four times the points, a cheap way to top up your points balance. For August, one name is circulating: Ditto as Squirtle: Movie Night (40887), a 185-piece set and the first GWP from the new Pokémon SMART Play line that arrives on 1 August 2026. Early reports say you’ll get it free with Pokémon pre-orders from 130 euros. LEGO hasn’t officially confirmed the exact threshold or the dates yet, so this sits here as expected, not as settled fact. Once the terms are firm, it moves up to the slot above.

The Koenigsegg steering wheel was a short six-day promotion at the start of the month, tied to buying the Megacar. The Vintage Parade Car and the Hot Rod were at the top of this page until recently; they’ve now been replaced by the Insiders Days sets.
Clearing the threshold the smart way
The trick is to reach the threshold with sets you already had on your list. One big box does the job in a single go:

When a GWP is worth it
LEGO.com charges RRP for regular sets almost without exception, while shops like Bol.com sit structurally below it. The free set has to make up that price gap. The maths is simple: take the value the GWP has for you, not what collectors ask for it later, add the Insiders points your order earns, and hold that against the lowest shop price in the price comparison. If the free set comes out ahead, buy from LEGO. If not, the plain discount elsewhere is the better deal.
Here’s where it goes wrong: you want a set that Bol.com sells a fifth below RRP. At LEGO.com you pay full price but pick up a GWP. Stacking with Insider points
Every euro on LEGO.com earns Insiders points, and during promo windows that doubles, as it does right now during Insiders Days. A GWP that overlaps with double points is the only moment a LEGO.com order works out structurally better than the same set at a retailer: you get the free set and you save faster towards your next reward. When LEGO gives away the most GWPs
GWPs come around almost every month, but not every month is equally rich. Four moments stand out. Insiders Days in summer, which we’re in the middle of now, is one of the biggest, with several sets at once and double points. Black Friday and the weeks around it in November traditionally bring the priciest gift sets at the highest thresholds. December adds the holiday promotions, often with smaller sets at lower thresholds so an ordinary gift order counts too. In between, one-off monthly promotions pop up, usually tied to a big new release or a theme LEGO wants to push.
For planning, that means: if you’re not in a hurry, waiting for Insiders Days or Black Friday almost always pays off more than a random week. If the purchase has to line up with a birthday or holiday, see whether you can tie it to the nearest promo window.
