The best LEGO Architecture sets are not chosen by piece count alone. A large landmark, a skyline and a compact travel display each have a different place at home and a different price rhythm. Twelve Architecture sets are actively available in the Netherlands right now; this guide compares them on display value, build time, size and current price.

New in 2026: Paris – City of Love
21064 Paris – City of Love launched on 1 May 2026, the first new Architecture release of the year. Not a skyline and not a landmark, but a scene with a mini Eiffel Tower, bridge and park bench on a 958-piece base. RRP € 79.99; Coolblue dropped the price to € 56.00 this week.
With an 18+ age rating and 958 pieces, this is a set you finish in one long evening. It works best for someone who already owns a Paris skyline (21044) and wants to expand the story, or as a gift with Paris as the subject when a large display isn’t an option. For a first Architecture set, this is less logical; the older 21044 Paris gives you more iconic buildings for less money.
A price alert at current price or lower is a reasonable entry point. The current discount may dry up once release promotions fade.
Choose your display type
Architecture sets are often calmer building projects. The real question is where the model will stay.
| Goal | Best direction | Watch closely |
|---|---|---|
| Large centrepiece | Landmark or castle | Width, height and dust |
| Travel memory | City, skyline or recognisable building | Personal link to the place |
| Gift for an adult | Recognisable subject with premium feel | Interior and space |
| Calm building | Model with repetition and detail | Build time and focus |
| Budget-conscious buy | Compact skyline or price drop on a large model | RRP and stock |
An Architecture set needs to fit the place where it will stay. A model that is too large for a shelf is less valuable than a smaller set that actually gets displayed.
Compact skylines lower-priced
Four Architecture skylines cost less than current price at Dutch retailers right now. All four are 12+, about 19 cm tall and 26 cm wide. They fit on a desk, mantelpiece or standard shelf.
| Set | Pieces | Year | Price now | RRP | Discount |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 21034 London | 468 | 2017 | € 31.95 | € 39.99 | −20% |
| 21044 Paris | 649 | 2019 | € 44.90 | € 49.99 | −10% |
| 21028 New York City | 598 | 2016 | € 42.50 | € 49.99 | −15% |
| 21038 Las Vegas | 487 | 2018 | current price pending | — | — |
21034 London gives you Big Ben, Tower Bridge, Nelson’s Column and a red phone box. At € 31.95 this is the cheapest Architecture set on the market and a safe gift choice.
21044 Paris combines the Eiffel Tower, Louvre and Arc de Triomphe and is a bit more elaborate than London. For anyone who wants the Eiffel Tower without needing a separate 21064.
21028 New York City packs five buildings onto one base: One World Trade Center, Empire State, Chrysler, Flatiron and the Statue of Liberty. The most detail-dense of the four.
21038 Las Vegas has Bellagio, Stratosphere, Encore, Luxor and the Welcome to Las Vegas sign. The least formal model and therefore a surprising gift choice for anyone who loves Vegas or has visited.
All four are six to ten years old. For 21028 (2016) and 21034 (2017), retirement in 2026 or 2027 is likely. At these prices you accept they won’t become valuable collectibles, but for a first Architecture set that isn’t a problem.
Large display models from the higher budget
Six Architecture sets fall into the large display category: more than 1,000 pieces, width around 48 to 55 cm, age rating 16+ or 18+. For this size you need a display case or open spot; on a busy shelf the detail work gets lost.
Sorted by current Dutch price:
| Set | Pieces | Size (h×w×d) | Price now | RRP | Discount |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 21042 Statue of Liberty | 1,685 | 35×19×12cm | € 74.90 | € 99.99 | −25% |
| 21058 Great Pyramid of Giza | 1,476 | 38×48×11cm | € 107.79 | € 139.99 | −23% |
| 21060 Himeji Castle | 2,125 | 38×48×11cm | € 117.00 | € 159.99 | −27% |
| 21062 Trevi Fountain | 1,880 | 38×48×9cm | € 110.00 | € 159.99 | −31% |
| 21061 Notre-Dame de Paris | 4,383 | 38×55×13cm | € 183.99 | € 229.99 | −20% |
| 21063 Neuschwanstein Castle | 3,455 | 38×55×13cm | € 215.00 | € 269.99 | −20% |
21042 Statue of Liberty stands vertical rather than wide. A good choice for a windowsill or narrow spot, and at € 74.90 the entry point for a larger Architecture model.
21058 Great Pyramid of Giza has a cross-section concept that reveals the pyramid’s interior. Historically strong subject and at € 107.79 we haven’t seen it much lower since release.
21060 Himeji Castle and 21062 Trevi Fountain sit at exactly the same current price and discount. The difference is the subject: a white Japanese castle with lots of repetition versus a Roman fountain with steps, statues and water. If you have no preference, choose on interest, not on data.
21061 Notre-Dame de Paris is the largest active Architecture model on the market: 4,383 pieces, a build session of probably fifteen hours or more. At −20% (€ 183.99 below RRP) the current price is a real release-buster.
21063 Neuschwanstein Castle adds landscape under the castle and offers more variety while building than a pure landmark. Also the priciest model in the active line.
Don’t compare by piece price alone: 21058 is € 0.07 per piece, 21063 is € 0.06 The difference is in subject, build experience and size. Choose on those first.
Landmarks or skylines?
Large landmarks offer more build time and display impact. They make sense for adults who want a calm project and have enough space. Skylines and smaller city models are easier to gift and easier to fit on a desk or cabinet.
Four rules of thumb:
- Less than 60 cm of free shelf space? Choose a skyline.
- More than 60 cm and a mid-budget? A mid-sized landmark like 21058 Pyramid or 21060 Himeji works.
- Maximum display, no space issue? 21061 Notre-Dame or 21063 Neuschwanstein.
- First Architecture set ever? 21034 London or 21044 Paris.

Price and stock
Architecture has fewer releases than many play themes. Stock by model can therefore matter. Compare:
- whether the live price is below RRP;
- how many Dutch retailers have stock;
- whether the model is new, widely available or harder to find;
- whether the size fits where it will be displayed.
For Architecture we track eight retailers: Amazon.nl, Bol.com, Coolblue, Conrad, Wehkamp, Alternate, 2T Toys and LEGO.com. Prices are refreshed at least twice a day; the maximum age of a price on BricksDeal is twelve hours.
Use a price alert if you are flexible. Buy sooner if it is a specific landmark available at fewer retailers.
Retirement risk or years left?
LEGO Architecture sets stay in production five to seven years on average. The compact skylines from 2016-2019 are all at or beyond that line. No replacements have been announced for 21028 NYC, 21034 London, 21038 Las Vegas, 21042 Statue of Liberty and 21044 Paris; retirement in 2026 or 2027 is likely for at least two of the five.
In practice: if you want a specific skyline, buy it now. At current price with live retailer stock this is a safe purchase, even if it disappears next year.
For the large display models there is no rush. 21058 Pyramid (2022), 21060 Himeji (2023), 21061 Notre-Dame (2024), 21062 Trevi (2025) and 21063 Neuschwanstein (2025) are all available for years to come.
One exception: 21037 LEGO House is only available through the LEGO House in Billund and the LEGO Online Shop. That limited distribution can drive a significant price increase on the secondary market after retirement. Standard skylines rarely do that; buy them because you like them, not to resell.

Gift value
Architecture works well as an adult gift when the subject is personal. A Paris, London or castle model is stronger when the recipient has a link to that place. Without that link, a more general adult set can be safer.
Three gift personas, three picks:
- Travel lover - choose the skyline of the city they have visited or live in. Lower-priced is a safe gift price.
- Build enthusiast - a mid-sized model like 21060 Himeji or 21062 Trevi gives ten to twelve hours of building without demanding a display case.
- Adult display buyer - 21061 Notre-Dame or 21063 Neuschwanstein as a display statement, provided a permanent spot is available.
Also check whether the recipient enjoys calm building. Architecture is often less playful than vehicles or fantasy themes. For some builders, that is exactly the reason to choose it.
Sources and method
We compare prices of active Architecture sets at eight Dutch retailers at least twice a day: Amazon.nl, Bol.com, Coolblue, Conrad, Wehkamp, Alternate, 2T Toys and LEGO.com. The maximum age of a price on BricksDeal is twelve hours; after that it is refetched.
Piece count and release data come from Brickset and Rebrickable, with LEGO.com as the primary RRP source. We always compare against the official RRP, not the highest retailer price of the moment.
For theme context we used the LEGO Architecture page, the Architecture explainer and product information from LEGO.com for 21061 Notre-Dame de Paris, 21058 Great Pyramid of Giza and 21063 Neuschwanstein Castle.
Affiliate links are labelled as such. We don’t accept paid placement; retailers cannot buy their ranking. This guide was reviewed on 15 May 2026 by Frank Spin.
