Unique way to make Lego personal
I was shopping for my son for Christmas on the Lego site, and hadn't even considered the mosaic kit, but when we looked at it, we felt it would be a brilliant present. He has ASD and our cat is almost like a therapy animal for him. Using the software on the site we were able to design a mosaic with one of our cat's photos for my son to make a truly unique and personal present, which he has already asked to be framed.
Feels some what pricey, but you do get 4,500 pieces to ensure you have enough of all the colours to make almost any converted image so it does mean you could potentially make another image with the left over pieces if you bought another base plate.

Creative gift and core memory maker
I stumbled upon this concept at the NYC flagship store. Decided to purchase the set for my wife and son. The experience started with the phenomenal service provided by my LEGO helper Daniel and the gift was a hit. The build took a little over 2 hours to complete and the result was a resounding success. Would recommend anyone try this as a family activity

Great fun building with LEGO.
Fun way to spend time. It's great that you can create your own photo/drawing. It takes a little searching on the LEGO website to find the mosaic app, but once you have it, everything goes quickly and easily.

Fun to Build, Gorgeous to Look at but NO FRAME
I had so much fun building this and watching it develop as I built it. It’s so gorgeous to look at, but the fact that this doesn’t come with a frame is a major disservice. You can’t skip getting a frame if you want to display. The baseplate is too floppy and will warp if not fully supported.
I ordered a 15”x 15” frame from Amazon and I’m hoping it will work. No store sells this kind of frame, so if that doesn’t work I’m looking at the $$ and hassle of a having a custom frame made. I would have paid a lot more for this set if it came with a frame like the Lego Art series.
Also, you can’t use just any picture to make the mosaic with it. I tried 3 or 4 pictures before I got something that was recognizable. It’s gotta be a portrait with no background for best results.

amazing lego
I made my restaurant log with these pieces. It was truly an amazing project. I was surprised and amazed while making it. I am so grateful to Lego for putting these small pieces together into a wonderful work of art.

Single project turned into family gifts
Initially saw online and on sale. Mentioned to my son, who has been a Lego fanatic since he was a kid. He said buy one, try it and see how it goes. He told me to pick out a picture of something and I decided on our pets that had passed years ago. Uploaded different shots online and my son said he only needed screenshots and he would take it from there. It turned out great! I bought another kit and created another with pics of my little dogs. Mounted in shadow boxes, and then decided to also give as gifts to family members with dogs as well. They loved them!

Worth your time/money
We recently laid to rest our cat, Twitch (17), and I really wanted to try this so we have something to special commemorate him.
Overall, I love how this turned out - the mosaic was able to capture his spirit despite the struggle of finding an adequate photograph of a black cat.
Unfortunately, unlike other Lego Mosaic sets I've purchased (e.g. the Sith Lords in Star Wars) where the picture frame is included as part of the set, this set did not. I ordered a 15x15in frame from Amazon and was able to squeeze it in there without distorting the image.
Tips for future builders: 1. your photograph needs AMPLE lighting if you want to see enough contrast to come through in the mosaic, and 2. If you're looking to hang this, I would first recommend preparing a MILS plate so you can address the wall mount & frame issues.

Wall art everyone loves
I’d had one of these using the booth in the Leicester Square store when these were first released, now I’ve grown up a bit, acquired a husband and a dog it was only right to update my own and use the newly decorated living room as an excuse to buy the other two one. Absolutely love them and with the mosaic creator online we can change them as frequently as we like (or as our sore fingers and thumbs allow us!). Certainly a real talking point, I can’t stop smiling at them.

Why didn't I see this sooner?
This set is so cool, I can't believe I didn't see it until it was in the retiring section. First thing to know is it was so much bigger than I was expecting. The base plate is about 15x15 inches. It was a much easier decision to get it at 40% off but even at full price I feel I have a memory set in a medium I love. transforming the photo upload is pretty limited which is both good and bad but definitely you want to try every setting before deciding. overall it is pretty basic but you will smile at the end product every time you look at it.

Mosaic hack
For the $60 price point I'd say this set is worth it as an art teacher. Fortunately I have a ton of plates in various sizes in black, grey, dark grey, and white which is great for larger single color areas. This leaves the 1x1s the set comes with for finer details and also leaves you with enough leftovers that you can get more than one mosaic out of the set by just adding another baseplate. I'm considering buying another set with the hopes of being able to make 5 to 6 mosaics this way. I think it would have been better if instead of yellow the set included a medium to light shade of blue, which would have complimented the Grey's better.

Satisfying
I wouldn’t say a fun build, but very relaxing.
My first build took about 5 hrs while watching TV. The 5 colours provided create a decent image. However I’ve ordered more colours to add realism for my preference.

Great Memorial to a Dear Friend
Combined four sets to create a memorial to our dog who passed away last year. Having such a big image and placing the tiles one by one was very cathartic and helped my daughter and I process our grief. Now to figure out some way to mount and frame it so we can hang it up.

LOVE IT!
We purchased 5 of these one for each member of the family to create a family mosaic wall of lego in our kids' playroom. We loved every bit of the process from selecting the perfect picture to completing the mosaic.
Wish it came in more colours for a more realistic effect but never the less anyone who saw it wanted to know where we got it from and how much it cost. If there wasn't a limit on quantity, I would purchase more to give out as gifts to other family members.

Fun but not easily hangable
It's a fun set that really allows you to be creative yet I expected it to be more like the Beatles or other artwork sets that were thicker and hangable.
My biggest issue with it is the website for rendering pictures. For some unknown reason it doesn't use white when rendering pictures with humans in them but works perfectly if the pictures are of scenery and animals. I have tried literally over 60 pictures with the same results. I'm selecting the renderings that use the actual background. The included pictures show what I mean... in one of the pictures the actual shirts are white.
Can someone at LEGO please tell me why human pictures don't render using white?

Reasonable alternative for a Lego enthusiast
This is a gift for my wife who enjoys a Lego build at Christmas. I recon it’s going to take her about 45 mins which is fine. The online image conversion software is reasonable, but will take some effort for best results. However, I think Lego are missing a trick here. Copying a picture from your device or printout isn’t particularly exciting in my opinion! Assembling an image via a colour key, like a cross stitch pattern, is a little more mysterious and has the element of surprise. Using adobe software I created a 5 colour 48x48 image of my own and converted it into a colour key. It’s impossible for her to see what the image will be until assembled.

Brilliant, but needs 2 things….
I got this set for my Birthday & I love it!
Already made 2 pics of my dog & there’ll be more to come….
Just 2 things would make it even better:
1. Can we have an app to make our photos please?? It would be so much easier & would willing pay 99p for it (although we’ve already paid a lot fir this set, so maybe a QR code inside the box to die load it fir free?)
2. Please make another tool that will remove even more tiles from the board at a time… clearing the board to make a new picture takes too long!

LEGO Meets Cross-Stitch
I was pleasantly surprised with this set. The organization is the pieces was well thought out. Having the guide on my iPad was great, I just used the markup feature to track progress. It’s a good rainy day build, and the variations on builds is endless, just submit a new picture in the online tool. The hard part is finding photos with good contrast.

New and Fun Building Experience
I bought this after the lego art Marilyn Monroe. I wanted to see if there were alternate mosaic builds and came across this. There's no limit to what you can display. I actually had enough pieces left over that I ordered another 48x48 baseplate for a second new portrait.

Very fun
I love how you can reprint different pictures or use your phone/pad to follow the pattern from screen to build. This is a piece which you can build over and over again and have fun on the website trying all your pictures out for the designs beforehand.

Lego Mosaic
Love this set and have already ordered a second. Bought at my local LEGO store. Turned out so much better than I had hoped for. The best part is that I can change the image and rebuild it to something new.
Worth every penny ❤❤ly❤
