Retailer reviews
Summarized retailer review data when available.
Nice figures, but don't buy them if you plan to use them with the accompanying app (it is no longer compatible with newer systems).
We were able to test it with one bandmate, and while it's a nice set, the app was disappointing. Although everything looks nice and the music is fun, it takes too long to use the app. This makes it not exciting enough to maintain concentration. We're now basically just playing with the figures with the rest of the available LEGO. But maybe it makes a difference if you have multiple items from the VIDIYO collection. We will probably buy a few more, but mainly because we find the figures so fun. We probably won't be using the app much anymore. Overall, it was a successful purchase, but not in the way that LEGO intended. The strength of LEGO for us is still building.
A fun way to combine LEGO, music, and movies for children.
I think it's a real disadvantage that you don't know which figurine is in the package. It's fun to collect them, but it can quickly become an expensive hobby if you also receive the same figurine several times. Our children love to dance and learn new dance moves. They find it very fun to perform with the LEGO figurines. As soon as the music starts, they really get into it. If they are dancing themselves, someone else needs to film them to add effects. The loading process takes quite a long time, and you also have to scan the characters repeatedly before use. Despite the different characters, effects, and music, the performance remains roughly the same. Despite the challenges, it's difficult to keep the children interested in this.
Very nice toy app, easy to use. The only thing that could be improved is the scanning of the figures so that they are added to the app. It's also nice that you don't know which figures you're going to get, so it's always a surprise and you can always trade them with friends or classmates. My child really likes to play with it and asks to play with it regularly. We definitely recommend this product. My child is 7 years old and can use the app independently, which is easy to use.
It's a fun new product and all the figures are really appealing. However, it takes a while to load the app, and not all phones can download it, but once you're in, the possibilities are endless. There's plenty to discover. The beat bits have fun images and the figures are also used in the regular LEGO game. I think it's even more fun if you have multiple figures, but it's definitely recommended.
