Every one of these I have seen in person exhibit cracking and warping of the wood used. This indicates the wood was not properly seasoned so it warps and splits and the joinery and fails. The finish of the wood looks nice but clearly doesn't seal the wood against changing humidity. I have wooden boxes I made decades ago that are still perfectly intact because the wood was stable and well finished.
I really wish I had read the other reviews before buying. I purchased this about a month ago and it arrived heavily damaged- attached photos 1-4 show various scratches, scuffs, chips, and stains across much of the drawer. I also have more photos the site wouldn't let me include due to the limit. It's like it was a display model in a store or something. For $240 (which is more than it used to cost, thanks to the price increases) this is unacceptable. I've had little success during previous experiences with Lego customer service in getting through to the higher-ups at this company to address quality control and customer satisfaction (the CS reps, of course, are always wonderful and do their jobs very well, nothing against them). Because of this I was hesitant to reach out to Lego CS as I figured I would be disappointed again. However, the final straw came when I discovered that one of the seams is starting to come apart, seen in attached photo 5. I haven't even had it a month! And so I came here to leave a review with, evidently, all the others who have said the same: this is a poorly-made product and Lego should be ashamed to charge the price they do for it. And to send me a *damaged,* poorly-made product is the nail in the coffin for Lego quality control. They are just like every other company right now- trying to squeeze every last penny out of the customer, doing so as cheaply as possible. And I feel like I have no choice but to go on record here saying that. Save yourself the headache and don't buy these wooden drawers.
I bought two larger and two smaller drawers, in both light and dark, to have sets in my two offices. I was so delighted when they arrived. Handling them makes you feel like a minifigure, come to life. The illusion was shattered days later, when they all became unusable. The wood swelled from the change in humidity, and the drawers became stuck inside. At the time, they were sold out, so I was only offered a refund “to find something else to play with.” Instead, I found a local carpenter who was able to repair them.
After just a few weeks it started splitting and cracking. It’s just sitting empty on a shelf. For the price I expected much better than this. The pictures are of the worst spots. Second one taken with a flashlight on the inside to show how the top is lifting. Contacted LEGO customer service and the experience was horrible.
