Ok, first of all for full price this set is extremely overpriced. I was able to grab this at Walmart on sale for 20$ and I’m so happy. The minifigures are awesome (some of the brighter prints on top of darker colors don’t come out great though). The ship uses alot of big pieces. This makes the ship look really good. Besides price I hardly have anything negative to say.
This set is great for anyone wanting to recreate the animated series. My son will have hours of fun with it. Having said that, it is definitely overpriced for what you get, we bought on sale for £50 and it wasn't an immediate purchase. Why has Wolverine lost the hair on his arms and his short sleeves?! It makes the figure look really strange (like he's wearing a peach long sleeve vest). Was this a cost cutting measure, an error or just a bizarre decision? I'd love to know how it happened! The separate minifigure series version looks so much better, even the printing on the legs is better quality. Seems surpsing given how relatively cheap the mini figure series packs are. We do love the other figures though, more X-Men figures please!
For starters the price of this set is atrocious, I could accept $50 with the new pricing but this is just ridiculous and was almost enough to keep me from buying it, except that I wanted it so much and wanted the opportunity to express what a shame I think this pricing decision by the Lego company was. As bad as that is one of the pieces in my set had a few smushed studs that were obviously present before the box was packed, made it so that I had to use a ridiculous amount of directed force to get the pieces that went on those studs flush and is making me lose faith in the reputation for quality control that Lego has built over the years. To top it all off despite being horrendously overpriced they do not include Storm or Beast and the only way to get them is from random minifigure packs?!?
The build has a new piece that I think will be amazing for other builds. Overall the build feels plain compared to previous jet. But much stronger for swooshing
I was very disappointed,as was my 8 year old son, while we put this together. For the price I expected printed bricks at the very least. Nope. Maybe even a cool light brick or something to justify the price. Nope. What we got was a very simple, quick, and ultimately boring build. Unless you're a massive Xmen fan I would skip this one. Can't recommend.
Ok, this set is really good we finally got a Rogue fig! But the price is just a different story. The price is not the best this set would be better if it was $50 but just $80-$90?!
The jet looks great. Big upgrade from the original. I hope we continue to receive more from the x-men 97 series. I want it all. The price is steep for what you get though. A couple more minifigures would of set the value right.
Many fans of Lego tend to not hold the "price per piece" ratio is high regard when gauging a set's worth. Personally, the .10 cent per piece ratio is a solid benchmark to determine if a set is fairly priced (ie, 350 pieces = $30-$40). With this method in mind, and even if you don't agree with it overall, you cannot deny how absurdly overpriced this set is. It's honestly gross how blatant this robbery is. Wait for the lowest sale price possible (even though then it still may never be low enough).
It's your money, but you're only getting 359 pieces of plastic for your cash. Look at how many other great Lego sets you could buy for the same money. Granted, they don't come with these characters, but the X-wing costs half this much, has more pieces, and has Luke Skywalker and R2-D2... Lego needs to re-evaluate its pricing strategy for this set in particular. If you don't want to pay too much for your Lego in the future, please reconsider buying this set!
