Excellent build - Awesome item to display!
Having build quite a lot of Technics sets, I found this build very detailed and super easy to build.
If I am to compare it with the Land Rover Defender technics set, it is certain upgrade!
What I liked:
- Build instructions are super clean and clear
- Ability to test the built (gearbox - suspension etc.) as you build - minimizing the risk of any mistake
- Pieces are organized in 20 bags - so you don't have too many pieces on the table (some may prefer fewer bags)
- The highlight for me was the build approach on the panels of the car. Usually, this is not a very engaging process in big sets. Following the moving parts build up, this part is usually too easy / boring. That isn't the case in this model. It is not hard, but it has some pretty interesting builds in panels too.
What I disliked:
- That I have finished it
- Would like it to be motorized - or a motorized version available. Would expand the play time significantly
- The gear selectors are very hard to reach for adults.
- Windscreen could be used
I overall enjoyed building the set and it is definitely an item to display! Color has been a controversy, but I think it suits it well, not only to stand out but it also recreates original g-wagons' color.

Technic Gelandewagen
This is unmistakably a G-Wagon, the Manufaktur copper orange color makes the set standout even more with its iconic design. The build takes away the transmission complexities of other similarly sized sets which for me is just redundant, this one is single speed but retains the hi and low gear settings and as with the real thing it also has 3 functioning differentials which makes the G-wagon one of the most capable vehicles. You can lock the center and rear diffs which if put on drive or reverse gears engages the model I-6 engine which for a set of this size you’re gonna want that thing functioning. This is my 3rd Mercedes-Benz branded Technic set the first 2 being the Unimog U400 set 8110 and second the Arocs 3245 set 42043. Design-wise it’s very squared with very few angles and catches the real thing’s iconic design my only complaint however are the tires, it’s big but looks so much better with the Unimog’s tires and I was able to adapt the spare tire by doing a few design adjustment for the spare tire guard. I’m overall very impressed with the set I give it a 100/100 score.

Not for beginners.
First, cutting and assembling: the instructions for this set are really bad. In addition to the various errors and steps that are mixed up, it is often difficult to see where the parts should be placed. New additions are indeed outlined in green, but green on black is not easily visible for everyone. Normally, white was used here, which is much better. Also, for adults, who are the target audience here, it can be difficult to attach the parts because it is difficult to reach certain places, or because the attachment points are sometimes well hidden and not clearly visible in the instructions. But, what a fun set to build. I was afraid it would be another standard tech car, and it seemed like that at first: you build the steering mechanism, the gearbox, etc., but there are also many other fun features. Much better than those 1:8 sports cars where you pay a lot for the brand and the packaging. No, this is not a set for a beginner or someone with little patience, but it is really for people who enjoy going into more detail. There is a lot to learn, because this set goes further than most tech sets. Of course, there is a lot of standard, but the finished product is a neat, finished car. Not all the technology is equally visible, but you can still make it possible with simple actions, without having to rebuild the set. The price is reasonable, considering that there are also licensing costs involved. However, for €250, you could also buy a good model with a working motor and remote control. However, make sure you have this clear for yourself if you want to buy it. Incidentally, this set is also much cheaper to obtain in many other stores and online. I give this set an 8.7.

Wonderful model
A nice challenge to put together. Wonderful, especially with the 4x4 technique. Not cheap, but definitely worth it.

Enjoyable build
This is my second technic set, very enjoyable build from start to finish. Noticed a few mistakes within the instruction books, and I went to use the Lego app and noticed this set was not available to build in 3D which is a shame.
Ever since the introduction of paper bags I have experienced more missing parts than usual, I have requested 3 parts from this set which was missing. Other than that a really nice build
Could have polished the finished result a bit better in my opinion. Will look forward to the next 4x4 technic build
Hopefully Lego introduces the 6x6 model to the Technic line up

Mercedes-benz
I was selected to sample this product for free from influenster and lego in exchange for my honest review.
This is amazing, the attention to detail is phenomenal. It's 18+ so this is certainly not a kids toy at all. It's a collectable and is to be displayed. It has clear instruction and looks very lifelike. This took hours of building but is to worth it. It's a collectors item and one that I will cherish for generations.

Awesome G500
A very fun build and addition to my Technic collection. I really hope LEGO produces a Ford Bronco RAPTOR in red and black colors in the same scale as this G500.

Fun for both young and old!
Perfect activity for both young and old! I was able to test this and I put it together with my father. The quality is very good, as we are used to from LEGO. It's very fun to put together together. There are also details, as with every LEGO set. Great set!

Awesome set until you play with it
Pros - fun gear centric build with cool features like locking diffs, transfer cases, etc. Lots of detail went into little things like functioning door handles and door jambs, body angles, interior replication
Cons - the front suspension is too soft and the model pitches to the front more than I care for. G-wagons don’t look like that in a parking lot. Aside from aesthetics, the soft front end, stiff rear end, and forward center of mass, the model is hard to play with and drive around because the front suspensions compresses and the drivetrain binds up if you have gears engaged.
The reason I gave it such a bad rating is because I tried to electrify this vehicle and the transfer case is incapable of handling any torque. Take a look at the pics. If you take the front off and remove the engine block you can snug an XL motor perfectly between the two vertical braces. Two black studs on each side keep it from rotating. The spare “yellow axle in the cargo box” is the exact length you need to connect the motor to the old existing connection for the crankshaft. Route the wires thru the dash into the cab and it’s ready for testing. Unfortunately the motor doesn’t turn the drivetrain because the transfer case isn’t built to handle torque.
I was so impressed with the build after completing it that all I wanted to do was test all the drivetrain functionality. So I bought a motor package with a controller and IR receiver and got it working. But that darn green barrel gear lets the inner white gear rotate inside it and the motor won’t drive the truck. After giving up my hopes, I rolled over the truck like a turtle on its back and tried working all the levers to see it from underneath. Even that amount of resistance in the drivetrain was too much for the transfer case.
Lego, help me out and tell me I did something wrong like flipped a gear during the transfer case build because you hear this all the time. Please tell me I’m wrong.

Just does not look right
Sorry to spoil the parade on five stars, but this was Not a fun build for me
I have done every technic vehicle that has come out in the last 10 years and this is the worst example of any of them
Perhaps it’s due to the square sides, which Lego failed to capture with regard to fit as you can see
There are just too many loose ends on the sides of the doors and the side of the hood
I find myself enlarging almost every step that had to do with the doors and the fitment so I can see that I was doing it correctly, although it does not look correct
Quality of this building is nowhere near that of the Land Rover that I have done sorry Lego
And as you can see, it is impossible to reach either the gearshift or the four-wheel-drive selector due to the placement without moving the seats unless your fingers and wrist are the size of a 10-year-old

Super Lego
I just received it and it's great. It will take me some time to make it but it's gorgeous. The packaging is super big and very cool. As for the performance, you have to know how to do it because there are a lot of small parts. What is safe is for big people. It's long since we're talking about Lego and it will last a long time and well. I am very happy. It will have a guaranteed place in the living room.

Rewarding Build
This was my first Technic build and I loved it! The amount of fine details and functionality features justified the price tag in my opinion. The color is amazing, its appeals to the eye as soon as you enter a room and the size is perfect.

Great build!
The packaging for this Lego set is really easy to open due to being made from fully recyclable paper that peels with ease.
The actual build was really easy using the two booklets for instruction.
The performance of the vehicle is strongly built and very well structured.
Myself and son built this over three days, it's a great addition to his bedroom.
Highly recommended.
