Nice set, undamaged packaging. However, the delivery took a week longer than expected. It seemed to be stuck with the carrier. Nevertheless, I was adequately helped when I contacted the seller about this.
I had so much fun with this set. The modular buildings make the whole experience so much better. I have anxiety, and doing legos help me to relax, but I always feel that rush when finishing so I can see the buildings complete. This set was so enjoyable because you feel like you have four different sets that come together in the end. There is so much detail that makes you feel nostalgic. It also turns into a beautiful decoration piece when it is done.
Nice package with many bags and hours of building fun.
So I held off buying this for some time and I am so glad I did buy it eventually! Each building is modular, and the details inside each one are fantastic! There are so many intricate details that really add to the overall wow factor of Diagon Alley! The buildings are large and look great on display (although a lot of room is needed when all buildings are side by side). They can be stored back to back too so don’t worry if you don’t think you can’t display it. Is this set worth it? 100%! The build was fun and each building had a bunch of different building techniques that gives each its own character just like the movies. I highly recommend this set!
This set was an absolute dream to build. The detail within each modular building is great and it really feels like you creating something unique with each section. There were a couple of missing pieces (3 1x1 bricks) however I manged to be creative with some studs and make these look better for a wall post than the normal bricks would have been so it wasn't an issue for me. As someone who is autistic and struggles with following 2D instructions I do with the digital instructions were available for this as it is a little tricky understanding some of the build instructions. However this is a me issue and not a Lego issue. I really enjoyed building the set and I did one section each day to make it more fun. As for the price, I do understand some peoples concerns with with being just under £400 however splitting it into 4 sets and the detail I do think that it is reasonably priced for what you get and the enjoyment. I also like the fact that it is clearly set up for expansion with being able to attach Gringotts (I'm yet to purchase( and also a Knockturn Alley should they release that at some point)
This set is amazing I recently got it about two months ago and it took me about 2 weeks to finish although I was spacing it out. The build process is amazing it changes all throughout and I had a friend that built it with me for 1 building because of the separate instructions which was awesome. Anyways the aesthetic of is amazing too it looks amazing. Even though it’s a big set the displayability is amazing since the buildings are built like Modular’s so they separate and it’s really easy to display for people with out much room. The minifigs are pretty good no bad ones just felt like some are missing some things. I do wish that they added more though for a set like this that looks better with multiple figs it kind of needed it but other than that no complaints 10/10 must buy for any hp fan
It was fun and challenging to build this lego diagon alley. Not recommended for really young kids, id say say that like 12 year is fine age to do this
I am a super HP fan. This is my first HP set. I really enjoy building each house. They are all in a nice and detailed design together with those mini characters.
Amazing Lego set, great value for money, especially all the figures that come with it. The details are great, I really enjoyed building it and it looks great displayed next to my Lego hogwarts castle.
I remember the first time I read about Diagon Alley in the books, what an amazing place JK Rowling had made and how I wanted to visit it. As soon as I saw this Lego set, it was a Grail for me and I had to get it. This set is my absolute favourite Lego set of all time. Lego has brought a magical place alive and every time I look at it I smile. That being said, there are some things that could have been done better inside the shops, which I have done myself. For instance, the inside of the Daily Prophet is an awful let down - a crate and a cobweb!!! It wouldn't have been so hard for Lego to put a desk in for the journalists to work at and so I did it myself. As you can see in the photos I put an upstairs in and as there is no windows up there and we have a photographer in the set, I thought it was an ideal place to have his dark room for photos. I put a sink in the corner, a bucket with his film, some potions to produce them into the photographs on the wall where I put some chocolate frog cards. Downstairs I simply added a desk. It's not much, but I think it makes more sense than the original. Another inside I changed was the upstairs of Scribbulus, I took out the creepy room as it doesn't fit Diagon Alley and placed the skull and blood in the window of the building in the entrance to Knockturn Alley where it fits better. I then turned that room into a "Fear of Flying Class" like the sign already says outside. I thought it was a missed opportunity and so just put a broomstick in there, put flames in the fireplace, a table with some tea to calm nerves and a bottle of something stronger. I put Hermione in there too as she hates flying. Then I moved the drawers downstairs and put more writing equipment in there and just basically changed the layout down there with the desk on the other wall so that figures could fit better. The last place I changed the inside of was the Ice-Cream parlour, as I felt there wasn't really any ice-cream in there. So I put a glass panel on the counter and put ice-cream behind it and some garnish in a bowl, and then stacked up cones on the windowsill which can be seen from outside too. Upstairs again I thought a missed opportunity, so took out his living room and just made it a very simple ice-cream parlour where they could sit and eat. I did change the outside of the shop a bit as I love the huge Ice-Cream Cone figure from another set so had to stick it on the table on the roof sign - I know it's not in the film but I thought it was cheery. And then a little add-on was the Diagon Alley wall from the Advent Calendar that I put at the end of the street at Wesley's Wizard Wheezes.
After buying this set from the Lego Store I was shocked to find that the set has well over 120 pieces that were deformed and unusable. I have never seen such poor quality control in my life. To make matters worse, Lego has completely ignored my request for replacement parts and left me hanging. After paying over $560 for a set, I am left with a build that is impossible to complete without resorting to the aftermarket to buy the pieces. I am so utterly disappointed by the poor customer service and I don't know how I can get my request for replacement parts answered. It's shocking. Buyer be ware! All is not well with Lego.
Overall, I think people will buy all 4 buildings anyway. But it would be nice if they can be sold separately so people can choose which ones to buy. I think the following designs are nice. But I still prefer blocks to be put together instead of hanging loosely. Just need to have a list to check in case I move the buildings and see if anything drop: Ollivanders – 2 wand boxes, ladder Daily Prophet – newspaper stack in carton Flourish and Blotts - Wingardium Leviosa book on display Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour – 2 chairs Other than that, I watched/read some comments about building color too bright (pink). I can understand that but after building the more “realistic” ones (Ollivanders), I do find building bright color quite refreshing. Also, this set has all colors of the rainbow and more. So a lot of bricks to play with. E.g. just taking the building structure on the roof from Quality Quidditch Supplies let me build Umbridge’s pink office. I think most like Weasley's Wizard Wheezes best. But somehow I am not too excited about that so I repurpose that to Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions . With that, pretty much have all the stores to get ready for Hogwarts. As for Knockturn Alley, hope it can be separated from Weasley's Wizard Wheezes so can place it anywhere or according to some Diagon Alley/Knockturn Alley layout. In fact, it would be great if for each “set”, the 2 stores can be separated so they can be placed anywhere or closer to what the “real” layout is. I was able to separate out Knockturn Alley. Just have to remember which part of the structure is weaken to be careful. And I think some said there are too many Harrys. But I end up thinking I need MORE Harry. (Reading/having ice-cream at Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour, book signing with Lockhart, accidental show up at Knockturn Alley, 1st fateful encounter with Malfoy at “Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions”, even before meeting Ron and Hermione!) Now just have to see what Lego will come up next. (I guess will need to rebuild Weasley's Wizard Wheezes if they end up making a real Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions.) P.S. Over 5000 pieces, I keep thinking finally Lego is missing pieces. But always turn out I was actually wrong. Kudos to Lego on that.
What an amazing building experience! Wonderful set with many beautiful builds and unique details.
My boyfriend bought this for me as a birthday present as I made an offhand comment about liking Lego but not being able to justify spending money on it myself and I have been blown away by it! I've completed the set in about two weeks, working on it when I have free time and the details are amazing. In fact it took us about 7 hours to build the first shop because we kept stopping to marvel at how cool all the tiny details were! As someone who hasn't had Lego before I was worried id get frustrated with it but the instructions are clear and the construction is fun! I would definitely recommend to any Harry potter fan.
This was a great build it was very challenging and kept me entertained for hours on end. The Minifigure selection was great I especially like the Lockhart and Luscious Malfow figures. Overall, I did feel the set was not as accurate as if like. The theme overall seems to be set in year two, however, Fred and George did not open the joke shop until year 6. Still an awesome set though. I also enjoyed the surprise box but I wish Harry was not part of the surprise. As a collector, the last thing I want is a set that features two Harry Minifigures.
I have been awaiting the item to come back in stock for a while and was not disappointment. 43 bags and a mystery box as well. I could not be happier. From bag 1 till the end each piece was a joy to build The level of build ranged from simpler to more detailed. once of twice my eyesight tricked me with the colours of some pieces With lockdown I would do some many bags a day with an average of 3 numbers per 2 hours. As a fan of the Harry Potter sets this feel almost the crown jewel currently. It does make Hogwarts look small. I would recommend this to anyone who is wishing to take an enjoyable build on during these times
My son and I are huge Harry Potter fans. We have an entire Harry Potter LEGO village. I bought him this as a Christmas gift. I live in Canada so this set with tax is over 560$. What a wasted opportunity to make something great by choosing to cut corners. This was my most disappointing build of all the HP sets. People have complained about the set having too many stickers. Some pieces require 3 stickers on it. The worst is the Weasley Wheezes (where the outer signs look terrible) but they all have significant amount of stickers which cheapens it and I’m sure they will peel and lift as the stickers aren’t even a good quality. It was just plain lazy for LEGO. This is a collector display set. The other issue is the colour combinations are terrible. I wish they stuck to richer shades vs the pastels. The prettiest build is the first building. Another complaint is there is no space inside the shops. The build spills out onto the table as if it wasn’t long enough that they couldn’t make space for the figures. Some of the details are missed because it’s all hidden and tucked away. Also why so many tiny pieces? The last issue was getting the hat to move. They didn’t do this easily. It took a while to figure it out and tiny hands to clip it. The good thing is from far it’s pretty I like displaying them separately. Also it looks like they have left it so other modules can be added. I hope they do as many iconic buildings are missing, but NO STICKERS! It at times was fun to build but it wasn’t exciting like the other sets. Would I recommend it? I don’t think so. It’s quality doesn’t meet expectations for a nearly 600$ set.
This is a truly amazing set. It is four large builds in one. Each build except one has two shops or themes so plenty of variety. Excellent attention to detail and the design and planning is carefully thought out to maximise interest and authenticity. Really enjoyable to build and look fantastic when completed and displayed with the mini figures. Relive the films and books as you build and see the stories come to life before your eyes. Good value because there are over 4000 pieces. I’d love to see a Gringotts Bank rereleased to match the scale of these.
It has a nice design and includes many minifigures, but it is a bit expensive.
This is a great set. There is so much detail in every building. Every nook and cranny is packed with something. I built this with my Lego obsessed 5 year old - who also loves Harry Potter. We tried to pace ourselves and limited ourselves to two bags per day. There are 20 bags total and a surprise #21 box.
