2026 is already an exceptional LEGO year. Pokémon got its very first sets in February, the official World Cup trophy arrived just in time for the World Cup summer, Ninjago celebrates its fifteenth birthday and the Botanicals line has grown into the engine behind the kidult trend. And most striking for Dutch buyers: nearly all of those releases sit well below RRP at the halfway point of the year.
This guide is written for buyers in the Netherlands. On 12 June 2026 BricksDeal tracked every set in this ranking across dozens of Dutch shops; each set can be compared at twenty-five or more retailers, most at well over thirty. The order weighs editorial quality, current lowest price versus RRP, availability and — because this is a year list — how well a set captures 2026.

How we rank the best sets of 2026
We combine set data with editorial weighting. BricksDeal curates price, stock and set information from multiple sources and compares it with the current lowest price, RRP and retailer availability. We then judge what a set is genuinely worth: as a build experience, as a display piece or as a toy.
The weighting consists of six signals:
- current lowest price versus RRP;
- discount percentage and the direction the price is moving;
- number of retailers with stock;
- build experience: how much fun is the build itself?
- display or play value after building;
- cultural relevance: how well does the set capture 2026?

The year of the kidult: Botanicals up front
No trend shaped the 2026 LEGO year as strongly as the kidult wave: adults building for themselves. UK trend lists named the Tulip Bouquet the flagship of that movement, and the Dutch data confirms it — no set in this guide is stocked at more shops. Anyone who would rather put something green on the table than a bunch of cut flowers that droops within a week gets the appeal immediately.

A World Cup summer and the Pokémon debut
Two releases define the face of 2026. The first is the FIFA World Cup Official Trophy: the official trophy as a building set of nearly three thousand pieces, released in the year the tournament itself is played. RRP € 179,99, currently € 129,99 — and with the opening match in sight, this is the set that becomes the talking point at every birthday this summer.
The second is the Pokémon debut. After years of rumours, the first real LEGO Pokémon wave arrived in February 2026, with the Pikachu and Poké Ball of over two thousand pieces as its undisputed flagship. The thirty percent discount within four months is exceptional for a licence this coveted, though at twenty-five shops the set is stocked slightly less widely than the rest of this list. One warning for anyone following the news: the interactive SMART Play line arriving in August launches only in the US, UK, Germany, France, Poland and Australia — the Netherlands is not on that list. For kids: from police train to anniversary mech
Buying for a child? Then three sets on this list matter. The Police Train Heist is the biggest: thirteen hundred pieces, a train heist as the story and months of play value built in. Lloyd’s Titan Mech celebrates fifteen years of Ninjago and so reaches both today’s kids and the generation that grew up with the series. And Kevin & Dug is the small gift that always lands — though the build itself is more modest than the other two.
Do mind the age with these three: the police train is made to be played with, while the mech and the Up duo are just as much building projects. Just outside the top 10
A year list of ten forces choices, and a few sets deserve an honourable mention. The Peace Lily is the quieter half of the Botanicals wave and barely trails the tulips on price. The Mini Biomes brings Minecraft to the desktop and is stocked at forty shops — only the breadth of this list kept it out of the top 10. Harry Potter fans have two more fresh options beyond the Collectors’ Edition: the Enchanted Flying Ford Anglia and the Hospital Wing of Hogwarts castle, both well below RRP. Two releases deliberately missed the list. The first-ever Shrek sets and the Zelda Ocarina of Time set both launched in June, but are currently stocked at only a handful of Dutch shops — too narrow to recommend responsibly. Where to buy these sets
All ten sets are widely stocked in Dutch shops. Bol.com and Amazon.nl take turns as the cheapest seller and usually offer the fastest delivery. Alternate, Proshop and Coolshop regularly dive under the big two on individual sets, while MediaMarkt and Conrad are sharpest during promo weeks. LEGO.com is the surest place for stock — at RRP, but sometimes with a free gift set on top.

When to buy and when to wait
For most sets on this list, buying now is defensible: discounts of thirty to forty percent within the release year rarely go much deeper outside promo periods. The LEGO summer promotion may still produce an outlier on individual sets, and the picture shifts again around Black Friday — but waiting risks the most popular sets selling out temporarily. The FIFA trophy is this summer’s clearest candidate for exactly that.
