LEGO Disney retiring 2026: Beauty and the Beast, Stitch – what do you still buy?

Beauty and the Beast Castle deserves immediate attention – no successor is coming. The Stitch build figure is less urgent. Disney licences behave differently secondhand than Architecture: prices dip first, then recover.

Transparency: some retailer links are affiliate links. The price you pay does not change. How we earn.

Disney retirement rewards deciding on time: gift value and display value rise once stock dries up.

LEGO Disney rotates faster than almost any other LEGO line. Sets stay active for roughly one and a half to two years on average before being replaced by new licence content. In 2026 ten Disney sets are retiring, including the largest Beauty and the Beast build LEGO has ever produced.

But here is what many buyers miss about Disney retirements: secondhand prices often dip first before they rise. That changes how you approach the timing.

Last-chance decision rule

With sets moving toward retirement, waiting only makes sense while there is still enough reliable stock. Look less at the biggest price drop and more at how many trustworthy retailers still carry the set. Once availability narrows to marketplace listings or prices climb above RRP, the calm buying window is over.

Signal What it means Action
Several major retailers in stock There is still price competition Keep the price alert running
Only one or two reliable retailers left Stock is becoming fragile Wait only if the set is not a must-have
New stock sits above RRP Scarcity is starting to price in Buy deliberately or skip deliberately

From the sets in this guide, I would track 43263 Beauty and the Beast Castle, 43247 Young Simba the Lion King and 43268 Lilo and Stitch Beach House first. Not because those are automatically the best deals, but because a price move on a larger or more giftable set changes the buying decision fastest.

How Disney secondhand works – and why it changes your strategy

Architecture sets climb above RRP quickly after retirement. Licensed Marvel sets do the opposite: they dip for 6-12 months after leaving shelves as private supply floods secondhand platforms, then recover.

Disney sits between the two, but leans closer to the Marvel pattern. That means: if you are buying Beauty and the Beast Castle as an investment, the best move is to buy now and not sell in the first year after retirement. If you want it to build: also buy now, before it disappears from stock. Either way the advice is the same – buy now.

43263 Beauty and the Beast Castle: a one-off chance

43263 Beauty and the Beast Castle (2,916 pieces, RRP € 279.99) is the biggest retiring Disney set and the first large Belle-and-Beast build ever made in LEGO. The set includes Belle, Beast, Lumière, Cogsworth and Mrs. Potts. The castle has multiple floors, a ballroom and a tower.

LEGO has shifted the Disney castle theme in 2026 to Rapunzel (43297). There is no Beauty and the Beast successor announced. This kind of IP rotation at LEGO means it can be years before this story gets another large set.

Stitch: less urgent than it looks

43249 Stitch (730 pieces, RRP € 64.99) as a build figure and 43268 Lilo and Stitch Beach House (834 pieces) are retiring, but 43296 Stitch & Scrump arrives as a direct successor in 2026. The Stitch build figure is format-specifically different from the Scrump version, but if you want “a Stitch set” and not necessarily the original figure: wait for the successor.

Elsa’s Ice Palace: unreplaceable for Frozen fans

43244 Elsa’s Ice Palace (630 pieces, RRP € 99.99) has no direct successor in the 2026 wave. The Frozen IP has received less attention this year than other Disney films. For fans specifically wanting Elsa as a display: this is the moment.

Lion King and Moana

43247 Young Simba (1,445 pieces, RRP € 129.99) is a large build figure of young Simba. For the Lion King fan this is a substantial set. 43258 Kakamora Barge and 43272 Heihei together form a complete small Moana scene; the 2026 successors 43292 Pua and 43293 Kakamora arrive as new Moana content.

Mini castles: no hurry

40478 Mini Disney Castle and 40708 Mini Disney Ariel’s Castle are small entry sets. Good gift choices, no urgency. They typically outlast the larger sets in the same retirement wave.

My pick right now

If you buy one set: Beauty and the Beast Castle (43263). A second choice: add Elsa’s Ice Palace for Frozen fans or Simba for Lion King fans. The Stitch sets you can approach calmly – there is a successor coming.

When to act

A quick visual rule for deciding whether to buy now, watch the price, or wait for a better window.

  1. Many retailers

    Keep watching

Competition still exists, so a price alert can still pay off.

  2. Few retailers

    Decide deliberately

Only keep waiting if the set is not a must-have.

  3. Above RRP

    Scarcity is pricing in

Buy only if you accept the premium, otherwise skip.

  4. Good dip

    Act fast

Retiring sets may not repeat their best price once stock narrows.

Frequently asked questions

Which LEGO Disney sets retire in 2026?
Ten retirement candidates: 43263 Beauty and the Beast Castle (2,916 pieces), 43247 Young Simba (1,445), 43268 Lilo and Stitch Beach House (834), 43267 Princess Castle & Royal Pets (787), 43249 Stitch (730), 43244 Elsa's Ice Palace (630) and four smaller sets.
Does Beauty and the Beast Castle rise in price after retirement?
Probably yes, but not immediately. Licensed Disney sets typically drop 6-12 months after retirement on the secondhand market as private sellers flood supply. After that, once supply dries up, the price recovers. Beauty and the Beast Castle (43263, RRP € 279.99) is the first large Belle build ever – that makes it interesting long-term.
Which Stitch sets disappear and what is the successor?
43249 Stitch (730 pieces, RRP € 64.99) and 43268 Lilo and Stitch Beach House (834 pieces) retire. The 2026 successor is 43296 Stitch & Scrump. If you want the original Stitch build figure and not the Scrump version: buy it now.
Will a successor to Beauty and the Beast Castle arrive?
Not announced for 2026. LEGO Disney has shifted the castle theme to 43297 Rapunzel's Castle. For Beauty and the Beast specifically this is likely the only large LEGO version for several years.
Which small Disney sets work as a gift under 50 euros?
40478 Mini Disney Castle (567 pieces, RRP € 39.99) or 40708 Mini Disney Ariel's Castle (557 pieces). Both compact and widely available. No retirement urgency – small sets like these typically linger longer than the larger wave sets.
