MediaMarkt is worth a look right now if your LEGO list has a gaming angle. In BricksDeal live data from 21 May 2026, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing and two Pokémon sets stand out. That does not mean every MediaMarkt price is automatically the cheapest in the Netherlands. On Mario Kart, MediaMarkt often really wins. On Pokémon, MediaMarkt is good, but not always at the floor.

If you buy one MediaMarkt deal from this selection today, check 72036 Mario Kart - Baby Peach & Grand Prix Set. At € 49.99, it gives you 823 pieces and feels much larger than the small kart boxes. If you want something small, 72031 Mario Kart - Yoshi Bike and 77046 Julian’s Birthday Party are the simple winners when their live prices stay low.
Pokémon is different. 72152 Pikachu and Poké Ball shows a live price of € 142.95 against a € 199.99 RRP. That can be strong, but BricksDeal also sees other retailers clustered around similar prices. Buy at MediaMarkt if delivery, returns and availability suit you better; do not chase the retailer name blindly.

For small LEGO gifts, the first two are nearly automatic when the live card stays in impulse-buy territory. For a birthday or Sinterklaas gift, 72036 feels stronger. You are buying a race scene, not just a loose kart.
Nintendo: Why Mario Kart Is Better Than Waiting
LEGO Super Mario moves faster than many other themes. Older interactive sets disappear, new Mario Kart boxes arrive briefly, and broad retailers sometimes drop them early. In this update, MediaMarkt is strongest on the 2025 Mario Kart wave.

Animal Crossing: Small Extra Or Main Gift?
Animal Crossing is quieter than Mario Kart. The sets are smaller, more decorative and work well for fans of the game who do not necessarily want a large LEGO display. MediaMarkt has two types of deals here:

LEGO Pokémon has been broadly available only since 27 February 2026. The official LEGO Pokémon theme page lists three first adult sets: 72151 Eevee, 72152 Pikachu and Poké Ball, and 72153 Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise. Compare MediaMarkt against the live set-page price before buying:

Eevee is the safer Pokémon buy if you want a compact gift. Pikachu and Poké Ball is the better display set, but compare it on the set page before buying: MediaMarkt is sharp, just not always the absolute lowest retailer. For 72153, you buy on availability and budget, not on a MediaMarkt price drop.
When I Would Skip MediaMarkt
Skip MediaMarkt if another reliable Dutch retailer is clearly lower and you do not care about MediaMarkt delivery. That matters most for Pokémon, where several retailers cluster around the same price. With Mario Kart it is simpler: if MediaMarkt has the live lowest price and the set fits your gift, waiting is often less useful than ordering.
